Guest guest
Hi all, Been struggling a little with binging and anxiety over having certain foods in the house, but it's been better lately. I forget who it was who said they had to legitimize certain trigger foods slowly, but I've been doing that and it seems to be working. Trying to bring in my binge/trigger foods all at once was just too overwhelming. Anyway, I wanted to mention a little bit of a breakthrough I just became aware of yesterday. Prior to IE I was recording everything I ate so of course I was totally, obsessively focused on what I had eaten, what I was eating, and what I was going to eat. I threw all the logging out the window when I started IE, but you know old habits die hard and I was still *thinking* about it. I read what Gillian said about " being in the moment " and I've been trying to do that as much as possible. Yesterday about noon I was starting to feel hungry, and I realized I couldn't remember what I'd eaten that morning--I'd eaten and completely let go of it! Boy, that made me feel good. : ) On another note, eating without doing anything is just not going to happen with the way my life is now. I'm eating now, lol--as consciously as I can! The choice is to eat way too fast and try to be as focused as possible while my brain is bombarded with all the things I need to be doing, or eat and do something else at the same time while being as mindful as I can. I just don't have the time in my day to allow myself to " just eat " most of the time. Things will slow down a little in summer, but for now this is just reality. This is how I decided that IE is a " custom fit " kind of deal--you have to figure out how to make it work for you, because it's not one-size-fits-all.
