Hi ,

Welcome to the group! Think you'll find a lot of support and encouragement in this group. One of the great things is the more experienced intuitive eaters are so helpful and freely share their experiences.

I can certainly understand the desire for a more balanced life and eating in a 'normal' way, and just ending the dieting craziness. I've been on my own journey for about five months now. In that time and in listening to my body's hunger and satiety signals, I'm still able to get into the same jeans I wore five months ago. With my history, that is really a change! But the best part is really how much more calm and peaceful I feel now in my head! Granted, this process can sometimes be challenging but it is so worth it!

Anyway, I wish you all the best on your own IE journey, !

Jeanne

I wanted to chime in about WW. I also feel it taught me to not overeat... I lost 80 pounds initially, but gained 20 back so I am 35-40 pounds overweight now. But like you say... I got tired of having to monitor everything and I was not losing anymore. As you lose weight, you get less to eat and I already felt it was hardly anything because I was hungry half the time! So that was hard for me to accept and just couldn't seem to get past it. I might as well accept myself the way I am, eat when I'm hungry, stop when satisfied and if I lose, I lose... if not then at least I'm at peace with myself and food!I had tried IE before WW and it was hard for me because I had such bad eating habits. The WW helped me get those habits under control, so now IE seems easy for

me. Hope you all have a great weekend! To: IntuitiveEating_Support Cc: louisestryke@...Sent: Fri, June 18, 2010 12:09:01 PMSubject: New to the group

Hi, Louise,

Welcome to the group! I'm copying your personal email address to try to make sure to get through to you. Check the group's website if you aren't seeing your messages come through to your box--it may be a filter on your end.

I've never heard of May's program, but the name sounds like it's based on a good principle. Can you tell us a little more about it, and how it's working for you?

I did WW online for most of a year and felt I learned at least not to overeat, but I got very tired of feeling monitored by their point system (instead of my own internal sense). I'd also stopped losing weight with WW (as I've always done with all diets), so the decision was an easy one for me.

All best,

Laurie

I am new to this type of communication and am not at all sure that this message is being received. I tried sending a message a month ago and never heard anything, so would appreciate a response from someone. I am working hard on combining May's Am I Hungry program with the Weight Watchers online program and would like to be able to share successes and struggles with others. My Am I Hungry coach recommended me to this group. Look forward to learning and sharing.<<<
