I don't restrict candy, but the truth is I've found I more often prefer eating dried fruit like mango or papaya because it seems to have a similar texture to a candy like Twizzlers, and has health benefits and doesn't add to dental problems. That said, if I crave a candy, I'll have it. For the times I don't crave a candy, I have the dried fruits, which are like fruit roll-ups but not so many other added ingredients. I'm allowed a candy like Butterfinger, but I almost never choose it because I find it's really hard on the teeth.

Really, something has come onto my mind while I was at grocery and saw those fruit roll up as I look back when I was still a kid. My mother had always buy a few once a month and if there were any on sales then she would get a few more for my sister and me. Today at grocery as I went to do a small shopping for dinner tonight. I saw the fruit roll up and I was in mood for something sweet. So, I grab a couple and knew my sister would want some as well. To be sure there enough for all of us. A friend of mine come over for dinner with us all. Afterward he hear me laughed when I saw my sister went to look for any left of fruit roll up and grab one. I went to get myself one and we talked. We realized that mother of ours had rather have us two girls eat the fruit roll up than candies. That's one of memory I treasure for long time as I can remember. Now, here question for anyone who rather either candies or fruit roll up? That would be my

curious. Eliza

Believe it or not, I don't think I've had a fruit rollup. Does it taste similar to gummi bears? I was kind of disappointed the last time I had a candy bar. Is my taste changing in my old age or are they putting more sugar in them these days? My favorite Three Musketeers seemed a lot sweeter than it did the last time I ate one. Like Laurie, I enjoy eating dried fruit also, especially dried apricots. Dried cherries make an interesing addition on a salad.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you're having a great day!

Everything is sweeter because of the high fructose corn syrup they use instead of sugar. It's about 20 times sweeter than sugar. Dried Cherries are awesome. I have found them chocolate covered also, and I do prefer them to the candied choc. covered cherries.

I like to have the low sugar papaya that I find at the health food store, and then sometimes the choc covered cherries; my goal isn't to restrict anything, but I'm seeking that "down the middle" balanced approach re. what to eat. I always eat what I want if I have a real itch for something.

It is why I do not buy fruit roll up often. Just once in while when I am in

mood for it which is not very often as I used to. One because it's so flat and

roll that tend does not last with taste as I can enjoy more. So, I don't mind

have that once in while.

Dried fruits is one of my favorite snack. Actually I have a dried apples in my

living room that I will have for some snack later when I feel hungry for

something small and simply.

Hi Laurie,

Fresh cherries are one of my favorite fruits. I was always a little reluctant to try dried ones but was hooked when we got some from my husband's cousin who lives in MI. I'm with you on the balanced approach toward food.

By the way, you did a great job with the way you handled the formerly problematic chicken parm!

All the best,

Jeanne

Cherry season is a hoot here. The season is short, especially when

prices are reasonable, so we usually buy huge quantities and eat almost

nothing but cherries until they're all gone. A box is about 18 lbs.

and lasts us three days. None of us are big on the dried variety, so

cherry season is cause for celebration in our house! : p

Hi Sohni: We have a large strawberry patch, 4 blueberry bushes, raspberry vines

and a grape arbor. I love sun-ripened, freshly picked berries. I also freeze

lots of berries, so I can eat as much as I want out of season, without paying

outlandish prices for berries that were shipped underripe and don't taste as

sweet as homegrown.
