Guest guest
I think my question to myself is " What help is it to body check? all it is going to do is make me feel miserable unless I am losing weight. " Maybe when you notice you are body checking, (even if you are feeling thin and thrilled) maybe say to yourself: " How interesting. There I am again, body checking. Body checking does not help me, so maybe I can do something else right now, such as look out the window at the bird, see the interesting patterns on the floor tile ... (fill in the blank) " Maybe this sounds goofy, but I actually think it's a better place to set your mind, otherwise the constant self monitoring becomes self destructive. Guest guest
I have trouble with that too, and have only moved from daily weighing to weekly weighing and still keep up with my loss (four pound so far) since there is not use pretending I am not doing this in the hopes on losing. I am thinking of it as a return to my natural healthy weight instead of a specific number goal, which is probably the best I can do right now. Guest guest
Hi A, Speaking for myself, I've come to realize that " feeling fat, " is not a feeling. For me, it's a means of distracting myself from what's really going on. When I start to notice myself becoming pre-occupied with body obsession, I pause and check in...am I angry, did something just happen that's bringing up an emotion that I'm not comfortable with? I carry a journal around and write about it or I do an " inner-dialogue " or inner-inquiry in my mind while sitting quietly. I find that if I'm willing to do this the " feeling fat " passes. Hope this helps and good luck! S > > I understand that we should not focus on weight or on a number. > I am dealing well with not using the scale at home.
