Guest guest
Ellen,Gillian posted an amazing response to someone who asked a very similar question, about what if you need to lose weight for health reasons.I think it was in the last two months. Search in the archives and see if you can find it. She's brilliant and I can't do her words justice! Maybe you can post it here to share as I'm sure there are other newcomers (and oldies like me) that would benefit from seeing it [again]. Best,Abby I have an issue that’s related but different. At 62 (and almost as concerned about the way I look as the younger members of this group), I am pre-diabetic. I have an over-eating response to just the thought of dieting, but I really do need to lose a couple of sizes for health reasons (also including joint pain and some other problems). I do weigh myself. I feel better when I don’t, but I usually put on some pounds if I don’t, and I can’t afford to or I’ll be diabetic. So I want to trust that IE (or the version I’ve been doing: Am I Hungry?) will work for me. It has in the past for a while, but I easily slip back into eating to quickly change my mood, and to eating due to family schedules even when I’m not really hungry, and eating more because of the amount I see my husband and daughter pack away! I do notice how sadness or something negative will propel me to the kitchen for a few bites of something sweet. (The few bites is my compromise.) I appreciated the member who told the saga of her going to the play…she’s very honest, and by knowing what’s going on moment-to-moment shows a good example of how to be aware of your body issues. I wonder if that has helped her with emotional eating…?
