Beth,

I use Green Superfood its a powder that has all your supplements in it by Garden of LIfe. I put

this in my drink after I juice my fruits and veggies.... to help give my body the nutrients it needs in order to heal. That way when you cant take vitamins while fasting this is a powder you mix with your juices that you juice and stir it in good because this is the only vitamin you get is in the morning.

a - THANK YOU!!!! This was the post I was looking for. I knew I remembered seeing this but for some reason could not find it in the archives. Ok - forgive me for asking this if it is a silly question BUT what is green superfood??? And do all of these go in a juicer?? I noticed some said to "stir and drink" Can I use a blender???

PH - Do you just leave this ingredient (green superfood) out then??? Or do you add something else to get your vitamins??? From what I understand, when you do a fast, you should not take your supplements during that time. I am wondering if this may hurt my digestion since I am not take my enzymes. Right now, they seem to be the main thing that is helping me stay out of the bathroom. I still have the burning sensation in my gut. That does not seem to go away...it is just not as bad as before. I am thinking once I get off my enzymes, I will be back to square one with my problems. Do you know if there is a time limit on how long you should take enzymes????

Also, can I use a blender or do I have to use a juicer???

PH - I was atually just thinking that maybe I could just exchange some juices for my breakfast and lunch instead of atually eating to help my gut. I could do a fast for 3 days I think. I have had to go without food for 3 days and I did ok. However, I would not want to do it very often :)

I just sent an email to your personal addy with a link for the champion juicer. Let me know what you think. Also, I sent the company an email because they have a model that can be used either domestic or overseas which I think I will be needing. I am pretty sure I am gonna try to go with Josh. I am so scared....we will see what happens.

As far as my gut. I do not notice it feeling better much at all. I notice when I take my probotics and drink kefir I have alot of bloating and gas. This si something I do not have a problem with and just noticed it recently when I started drinking kifer too. Can I be getting to many probotics or do you think it is just from the "die off"? I also think I will be on enzymes for awhile. My gut is completely messed up. However, the reason I asked is because I had 1 ND tell me not to take them too long and 1 tell me it was ok. So as I said before, I understand you as I feel the same way about getting different info....it is confusing and frustrating!!!!! I tend to believe my "sisters" here though...they KNOW!!!!

Hi Beth,

As far as the gas from the probiotics and kefir, I think that's

dieoff. I experienced the same thing at first and actually still do

on the few occasions where I have to stop my probiotic due to a liver

flush and then bring the probiotic back in. But then once I'm on

them for a day the gas goes away. I'd continue what you're doing.

I've never found anything that says you can take too many probiotics.

With the enzymes, I think they're of benefit to anyone who has but

problems. I have read not to take too many because it can destroy

the lining of the gut but that's with extremely high dosages. Yeah,

I'm tired of all the contradictions out there too!!

PH - what brand of probotics and enzymes are you on? Do you get them from Mercola's Clinic??? I am using the one's my ND gave me and they seem to work well. I take one, 3 times a day with both of them. I have a probotics specifically for the large intestines and one for the small so I take 2 different probotics 3 times each. It is expensive though. I spend about $80. every 20 days just for my probotics. I am thinking of switching to Garden of Life.

Beth,You might look at the probiotic thing like a war . . . You're sending soldiers in (probiotics) to do battle with the enemy (fungal organisms). You can expect them to get in a fight causing stomach discomfort and gas. . . The fact that you feel the war going on, means you really need the probiotics. You'll reach a point where you'll be happy when you get uncomfortable feelings because you'll know you're hitting the target. However, if the war gets too uncomfortable, back off the probiotics a little to the point it's tolerable. In the meantime take a good look at any food you may be eating that are encouraging fungal organisms to grow. Diet is a huge part of winning this war.If

you feel you're not getting anywhere with just probiotics, you may need to back up and take an antifungal for a while before bringing in the probiotics again. It may take a while to beat the fungal organisms down, but eventually you will. . . Even then, don't let up. It can take years to recolonize the good organisms you need. Hugs,Rogene

Rogene - thanks for giving me that example and explaining it that way. I think you are exactly correct!!! I also have been thinking of taking a antifungal. I do think I need it. My stomach burns constantly still. It is not as bad of a burning sensation but still very much there. If I do decide to take a antifungal, should I wait until I am completely done with it before starting probotics again or should I start them the last few days of my antifungal? I am thinking of doing a round of caprylic acid.

I think I may take probotics for many years to come just to be safe!!!!

Beth,You might look at the probiotic thing like a war . . . You're sending soldiers in (probiotics) to do battle with the enemy (fungal organisms). You can expect them to get in a fight causing stomach discomfort and gas. . . The fact that you feel the war going on, means you really need the probiotics. You'll reach a point where you'll be happy when you get uncomfortable feelings because you'll know you're hitting the target. However, if the war gets too uncomfortable, back off the probiotics a little to the point it's tolerable. In the meantime take a good look at any food you may be eating that are encouraging fungal organisms to grow. Diet is a huge part of winning this war.If you feel you're not getting anywhere with just probiotics, you may need to back up and take an antifungal for a while before bringing in the probiotics again.

It may take a while to beat the fungal organisms down, but eventually you will. . . Even then, don't let up. It can take years to recolonize the good organisms you need. Hugs,Rogene

Beth,I don't think it HURTS to take probiotics while you're taking antifungals . . . but, based on Rubins' recommendations for taking Fungal Defense and Primal Defense, I'd finish the antifungal, then start probiotics. As I see it, much of the probiotics taken while taking antifungals is likely destroyed by the antifungal. Be sure you are drinking a full glass of water when taking either of them. Hugs,Rogene

DO NOT USE THE Green Superfood if you have brain fog!

It is a product like Garden of Life's " Perfect Food " . Many companies

have come out with some type of green food powder that is supposed to

be full of vital nutrients.

Hi Beth,

I take 8 capsules of Primal Defense Ultra daily. When I remember, I

occasionally also take Enzymedica Pearls. For enzymes I take

Enzymedica Digest Gold. I get all from Whole Foods or

www.vitacost.com

Yes, probiotics are expensive unless you make your own kefir. The PD

Ultra cost $50 for a bottle of 90 which I use up within 11

days...ridiculous!! I'm just not at a point where I can learn to

make kefir even though I've read it's easy. I've just got too much

other stuff going on right now.

Do you know what the differences are in your 2 probiotics? Different

strains or different coatings/delivery systems? I've never heard of

Patty - would you just leave this out all together or is there something else we could use to get vital nutrients?? If I do a juicing fast or even jsut drink juies in plae of meals, I want to make sure I am providing my body with good nutrients. Do we get enough nutrients from the juice itself????

PH - both of my probotics are made by Metagenics. There website is: http://www.metagenics.com/products/detail.asp?pid=249 and http://www.metagenics.com/products/detail.asp?pid=250. I listed the two specifically for the probotics but you can also check out all thier products at www.metagenics.com

I also take the enzymes for this brand. I really like them but it is expensive for me to spend $80. every 20 days for this along with my other supplements. I may start taking the ones from Garden of Life. I think I am going to do a round of caprylic acid thought first before I start my next bottle of probotics. I think I really need that. Then I will start juicing and maybe offeee enemas. I need to get my digestion straighten out.
