Hi, I am new to this, not new to feeling like crap...but new to the

site. I've been having symptoms for about two years now and have just

started researching the implant connection. This week I will begin my

journey of contacting doctors for testing and exploring the option of

removal. My question is, does anyone out there have no natural breast

tissue (like me)...I had a defect causing my breasts to never develop

and am scared of what I will be left with after explant. I know my

health is most important, but are there any new options for

reconstruction when there's nothing there to work with?!

Scared but optimistic....

Casey,

Many of us have had mastectomies, and we use a prosthesis. It is far

safer than any possible alternatives. Be sure to check out doctors

on our list before explanting, as most docs don't remove implants properly.

Casey,

Welcome to !

It really is a bummer . . . But, most women (and their mates), come to the conclusion that health is all that matters.

Maybe one day there will be a safe implant . . . but it hasn't happened yet.

I look for tissue engineering to provide the answers one day. Then they will be able to grow breast tissue from one's own tissues or stem cells.

The important thing now is finding a surgeon who understands why you want your implants removed properly, and is willing to do the job right the first time. We have a list of recommended surgeons you may find helpful.

Hugs,

Rogene
