Guest guest
I got this from my aunt. I admit to remembering quite a few, though some are older then me I think. hehe. I must say that the dream car for me wasn't the one listed....cause why would I want a car that was as old as me? LOL Enjoy << If you are old enough...take the stroll...Close your eyes. And go back...before the Internet or the MAC...Before semi-automatics and crack...before chronic and indo...before SEGA or Super Nintendo...Way back... I'm talkin' bout hide and go seek at dusk. Sittin' on the porch, Simon Says, Kick the Can, Red light, Green light. Lunch Boxes with a Thermos . ..that broke, Chocolate milk, going home for lunch, Penny candy from the store, Hopscotch, butterscotch, skates with keys, Jacks, Mother May I? Hula Hoops and Sunflower seeds, Whist and Old Maid and Crazy Eights, Wax lips and mustaches, Janes, saddle shoes and Coke bottles with the names of cities on the bottom, Running through the sprinkler, Running behind the DDT truck, circle pins, bobby pins, Mickey Mouse Club, Crusader Rabbit, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Fran & Ollie, Spin & Marty . . . all in black & white. When around the corner seemed far away, and going downtown seemed like going somewhere. Bedtime, climbing trees, making forts . . .Coaster made from orange crates and an old skate, Backyard Shows, Lemonade stands, Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, Sittin' on the curb, Staring at clouds, Jumpin' down the steps, Jumping on the bed. Pillow fights, " company " , Ribbon candy, angel hair on the Christmas tree, Running from the guards at Halloween, Jackie Gleason as " the poor soul " , White gloves, walking to church, walking to the Community Center, Being tickled to death, Running till you were out of breath, Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt, Being tired from playin' . . .. Remember that? Not steppin' on a crack . . . or you'll break your mother's back . . .paper chains at Christmas, silhouettes of Lincoln and Washington. . ..the smell of paste, buck bags and Evening in Paris . . . Crowding around in a circle for the 'after-school fight', then running when the teacher came. > What about the girl that had the big bubbly handwriting . . . who dotted her " i's " with hearts?? The Stroll, popcorn balls, & sock hops. Remember when . . .. > When there were two types of sneakers for girls and boys (Keds & PF Flyer) and the only time you wore them at school, was for " gym " . And the girls had those ugly uniforms. > When it took five minutes for the TV to warm up. When nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school. When nobody owned a pure bred dog (except Bohart). > When a quarter was a decent allowance, and another quarter a huge bonus. When you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny. When girls neither dated nor kissed until late high school, if then. When your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces. When all of your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done, everyday and wore high heels. > When you got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, for free, every time. And, you didn't pay for air. And, you got trading stamps to boot! When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box. > When any parent could discipline any kid, or feed him or use him to carry groceries, and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it. When it was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents. When they threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed . . . and did! When the worst thing you could do at school was smoke in the bathrooms, flunk a test or chew gum. And the prom was in the auditorium and we danced to an orchestra, and all the girls wore pastel gowns and the boys wore suits for the first time and we stayed out all night. > When a '57 Chevy was everyone's dream car . . . to cruise, peel out, lay rubber or watch submarine races, and people went steady and girls wore a class ring with an inch of wrapped dental floss coated with pastel frost nail polish so it would fit her finger. > And no one ever asked where the car keys were 'cause they were always in the car, in the ignition and the doors were never locked. And you got in big trouble if you accidentally locked the doors at home. No one ever had a key. And lying on your back on the grass with your friends and saying things like " That cloud looks like a . . . > And playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game. Then....baseball was not a psychological group learning experience, it was a game. > Remember when stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals 'cause no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger. And . . ..with all our progress . . . don't you just wish . . . just once. . you could slip back in time and savor the slower pace . . . and share it with the children of the 80's and 90's . . . > So send this on to someone who can still remember Drew, The Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, Laurel & Hardy, Howdy Doody and The Peanut Gallery, The Lone Ranger, The Shadow knows . . . Nellie Belle, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk . . . as well as the sound of a reel mower on Saturday morning, and summers filled with bike rides, playing in Cowboy land, baseball games, bowling and visits to the pool . . . and eating Kool-aid powder with sugar. > When being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home. Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn't because of drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we all survived because their love was greater than the threat. Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that! > >>

Guest guest
I am so glad to hear someone who shares my sentiments!! No amount of diligence will prevent these false positives in some of us. I too am sorry to be a cloud but I believe the truth is the only way to beat this. Has this messsage board ever been about anything besides the truth? Re: REMEMBER I am so glad to hear someone who shares my sentiments!! I have been desperate as I lost a child thru this test, and yes I was a whine bag early on. so bear with us we are here for you , and yes we also get snippy. I think my computer is pooping the bed sorry about how this response comes out, Lori,No , I don't think you have missed anything, just misunderstood my intent.I did not mean to imply that the site was not "about" truth. What I meant was that I see so many postings from people desperate to find out why they tested positive, and trying anything to prevent it in the future, just as I am sure we all did at first. It seems harsh to say that this test is so unreliable that nothing you avoid will ensure a negative result, but I believe its true. Of course we must avoid the ingestion of alcohol, as I believe the majority honestly have, but as we all know too well that is not enough. To stress over everything that we may potentially come in contact with that will produce a false positive, leads to such paranoia that it becomes almost impossible to live our daily lives. ly, I was hurt by your immediate and curt response. I do not presume to tell anyone how to behave, but I do feel that this site is for everyone who has been affected, and sharing our individual beliefs, feelings, experiences, and coping skills is part of that. If I am mistaken, please let me know, and I will look for information and support elsewhere. Liz See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Lilibit, you are a hoot, I love you!!! I agree that SOME people will still pop positive no matter WHAT they avoid, while others will avoid positives (at least on testing days) by not using tylenol, vanilla, etc...I believe Robin used the word MULTIFACTORIAL. That's where my money is. It's also very important not to lose sight of the fact that even if all of us on this site were magically cleared today--THE TEST IS STILL CRAP. Those that come after us--and there is no decline in addiction, is there?--will benefit from our work and --yes, I'll be corny and say it--blood,sweat and tears. Lorie, I thought of you a lot since Marsha graduated. It must be horribly difficult to keep a smile on, although you do, because she is your friend. If I had the experience that you have had, I would be so envious of anyone who graduated that I'd probably be a poor sport. Don't get me wrong, I'm ESTATIC for Marsha, but truly, it isn't as though ANYONE could do it by cutting out certain foods and tylenol and etc. I'm glad it works for those individuals! Hope I'm not ranting or rambling, but if I am..oh well, it's one of my few vices left! ~~~~~~~~~~~~Keep The Faith~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eva > > > lilibit says in reply In we all have bad days a me lord knows I do > so please don't leave us , I really don't > think you can find any information and support that we all have here to give > , I have found solice here as well as made some good friends, if there is > another site do let us know. Guest guest
Thank you. I do appreciate this group, and have found so much support, and information here. As I have mentioned, I am facing a board hearing sometime this fall, and am stressed, frustrated and scared. It really gets to me when I read postings from new people who are so desperate to explain the positive, because I know the feeling, and the feeling when you come to the awful realization that other than not drinking, there is nothing you can do to ensure negative results, and unfortunately that is not enough. This test is more than crap, and people like you remind me that what I face losing is nothing in comparison to what you have lost. Thanks
Guest guest
liz,you are not mistaken this test is not "true" and many things we say here has not been proven scientifically.we all have different lenses of what we percieve to be the truth.the key iswe all hang together to oppose this false test...please do not leave you are most important to our site...please stay here like i do to help and be helped...regards,rLiz Cleveland <mslizrn_2001@...> wrote: Lori,No , I don't think you have missed anything, just misunderstood my intent.I did not mean to imply that the site was not "about" truth. Guest guest
NPR did a great piece a week or so ago about how the FDA personnel now believe their cistomers are the Pharma Companies and NOT the People. It's very frightening Glenn___________________________________…for if that which you seek you find not within yourself, you will never find it without. Remember The marketing guru's are jumping all over this ... but it is the reverse."statins are approved as safe by the FDA"yeah right .. with some arm twisting and pay offs by the pharmaceutical companies.ed
