Thanks Sandy! I agree on the female doctors. Next time I have to go

see a doctor (besides my regular doctor, who is a female) I am going

to request a female doctor. I've had bad luck with the male ones too!

They do not get women's health issues, and frankly I think that they

think we are all a bunch of idiots that can't comprehend what they are

saying. Grrrrrrrrr......

Hi Traci,I'm so happy that you have a compassionate MD! You are fortunate! I've had many wonderful MDs in the past, when I had situations that were "textbook" illnesses. I wonder if because you had a staph infection with obvious symptoms the doctors could see and measure, your doc knew how to handle it and did so with compassion...not to diminish what you went through because I know you struggled and persevered a long time!

For those of us with vague symptoms like unexplained fatigue, dizziness, visual disturbances and MS-like symptoms that don't show up on an MRI, I've found that my once compassionate doctors are not so understanding. Rather than admit they don't know or even attempt to find answers, I was told things like:

All women experience a decline in energy at 38 (when I seriously could barely walk up my stairs).

You're just stressed.

You want an MRI? ?! Hahahaha!!

You just need an antidepressant (as he patted my knee).

You look fine to me and your CBC is normal. You're not sick.

Your periods are regular? Oh, then we're just wasting time doing all these blood tests. If your periods are regular you have no hormonal imbalances.

I've had hundreds of patients with implants and none of them were sick.

I seriously doubt that my vision loss, dizziness, headaches, high intraocular pressure, fatigue and numbness could be solely from stress or being 38! Especially when months before I was working out 4-5 times per week.

In my experience, it seems that "if it wasn't taught in medical school, then it doesn't exist." If they can't seem to "fix" you, it's a blow to their self-esteem, and rather than admit they don't know, they then turn it back on the patient and act as if it's all in her head. I'm not saying all allopathic docs are like this, but it seems to be the general course for those of us w/ implant illness. I plan on writing every one of the docs I saw and telling them that implant illness does indeed exist and what symptoms they can look for and resources where they can find more info.

You're lucky to have found a great doc! How have you been feeling lately?

Love, PH

I've told this story on our group before, but here is a good time to

mention it again.

My dad is friends with a gynecologist in my hometown. When I first

got sick, and I told my parents, my dad mentioned my illness to this

guy and told him that I had suspected my implants. I guess he was

feeling him out for his experience.

This gynecologist--a doctor whose patients are all female--told my

dad, " You know why she is sick? She's a woman, that's why. "

When my dad told me this, I was fuming mad. How dare this a**hole

suggest that we women are hypochondriacs, or that we are just always

sick for some reason or another! If I could have called that jerk

and given him a piece of my mind, I would have. But I sure let me

dad know what I thought of his " friend. "

Men. LOL They are all the same. HA

Traci,

Yes, you have had a good experience and I'm so glad for you. It's a

nice little ray of sunshine to know that it's not so bad out there.

If they dont remember what they learned in medical school, then it doesnt exist.........or if they cheated their way through or slid thru it with a horseshoe ( luck ) in their back pocket, then it doesnt exist...

One of the docs I worked for one time bragged that he almost flunked med school that he barely slid by.......and he always put in his adds he ran in the phone book and newspaper, that he was the best in town, or an expert, and things like that, also the same

as the one that never did his own continueing medical education.....always flopped it down on my desk to do or someone elses......they were tests that came in the mail..... they were to fill them out and mail them back in, and if they passed, they got a certificate.......lame, huh?

WE should start a web site

called: Doctor-Doctor, is anyone listening ? ?

and put our stories and their name and locations so that people can know the truth about these people

( doctors ) and their inability to fully honor

their hippocratic oath...."First Do NO Harm "

Patty- I can't belive a GYNECOLOGIST would say something like that!!

Aren't they supposed to be on OUR side?! I can't belive it! I'm

pretty sure that's how that endocrinologist felt about me...like I

was sick because I was just a hypochondriac woman that just needed to

go on an antidepressant and get out of his office. It's really sad

that way that we get treated by these doctors.
