Guest guest
I believe that a lot of the pancreas transplants are done on those adults with juevenille diabetes. Apparently, they can't survive much into adulthood with just their original. Maybe that makes us a secondary priority. Also maybe the anti rejection treatments are worse than what we have to deal with now. This is all conjecture, just thinking out loud. Guest guest
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... Thanks Kimber. One more question... Is End-stage renal disease pretty very high-occurance, or " normal " with brittle diabetes? (As in, one can pretty much expect to have to go through it at some point, if one is still living at this stage?) You're very wise, Kimber, and I'm sorry to keep picking your brain but I really do appreciate having you as a resource... What a life saver. Also I don't mean to sound morbid above, but I'm starting to think of some of the things that I'm probably going to experience before I die. Morbid thinker in KC Terry << Terry, the reason for the combined pancreas/kidney transplant is usually because of people with End-Stage Renal disease which can be a severe side effect from brittle diabetes, that's why the combined transplant.
