Subject: pain question

Hi Ilena,

I have had a lot of pain recently and have passed it off as being fibromyalgia related. Today I noticed quite a bit of pain in my left breast (bi-lateral mastectomy followed by saline implants). My entire left side from the small of my back to the base of my skull and jaw, including the left breast area is very painful and feels inflamed and all areas are painful to touch. I have also suffered from migraines over the last several months. I was just wondering if any one in the group has had similar issues. I have been to the doctor so many times over the last few years that I think they sort of write me off and are quick to call it break through pain related to fibro. The pains are tightness, stabbing, burning - a LOT of burning, and others that I cannot even begin to describe. I am really starting to worry.....

Thank you!

Dear Ilena

Would you ask the group if anyone knows anything from personal

experience with cataract implants and silicone survivors ? I have

a documented rupture, and I am 70 years old with type two diabetes.

The plants were Cronin silastic and were put in in 67' Out in the late

nineties.

I tried eye drops for cataracts for two months.

They had no positive effect in that time.

I have spoken with another silicone survivor and she had trouble for almost a year

with an acrylic implant.

She kept tearing and her eye was tender. She had to put in drops

often. Very often. Now that condition has resolved for her she hopes.

Still she has not yet opted for the other eye.

I was told by an optometrist that there are several different materials that

these eye implants are made of. Yet one eye surgeon told me that I only had

the choice of acrylic or silicone.

I am concerned with being awake during the operation. One

of the doctors told me not to worry because they give Versed.

I know that stuff very well and it does nothing for pain, it only makes

one forget the experience......sometimes.

I was treated as if I were mad buy two eye surgeons. They

would not even address my concerns. Another said he had

not heard of any adverse effects from people who had

silicone implants. Later I found he had been only practicing

for a short time but he would not have heard much anyway because

the manufactures are not telling and the FDA has stated that

implants are ok.

The whole thing is confusing and yes, scary.

Fortunately there is nothing else wrong with my vision

other than a lack of symmetry in one pupil . Can't think

of the name of it. One of our survivors told me not to have

lazar surgery to correct it because her eye surgeon told her

with her history of silicone rupture the lazar would harm her

eye permanently.

Can anyone clear up this thing for me ? At least let me know

what my options are.

One guy told me he would put me to sleep for a few moments if

my doctor gave him a letter stating it was ok. He sounds good

to me but he is the one who said they only have acrylic or silicone.

My vision is getting worse and the one thing they all said is not to wait

very long because it got more difficult to do the surgery.

Oh, for a mere 5k per eye they will even put in the invisible lenses so

I will not have to wear glasses anymore.

Much love and thanks

All good things

How nice that the FDA sent out this message a week ago --but since we are limited on the number of messages we can send in a day, we did not forward at that time.

Probably tomorrow, I will forward another message that has made my blood boil; we hope that, following the FDA's protocol, you will properly respond to the FDA....to their satisfaction.

PLEASE ADD MY ADDRESS to your address book --maybe I can write to everybody the same day, using both services..

When you have a problem with a food, drug, or other FDA-regulated product, FDA wants to hear from you. Here's how to report problems using two of FDA's main reporting systems.
