QuestionDear dr engler, i had a tummy tuck in april 2006 and developed a seroma i had a revision of op in aug 2006 to remove the scar tissue i again had a seroma which resolved but left me in severe pain and suffering frequent bouts of clammy episodes and severe fatigue also a raised WCC, the surgeon was very good but thought my symptons were not connectected to the tummy tuck, as a last resort he operated again to remove the muscle suture he had inserted in case this was infected, but at surgery he found another large seroma so again he removed all the scar tissue and also the suture, post op i had the drains left in for 3 weeks and after their removal i required the small seroma to be drained 3 times,6 weeks post op my wound has healed perfectly and the drainage has stopped but i am still suffering some pain and am left with the same symptons of severe fatigue, terrible clammy episodes, raised WCC, weight loss due to no appetite, these are the same symptons as pre op but are now more severe i have been unable to get out of bed for the past week, i would like to know if you think it could be another seroma as the pain is similar and if so will i ever recover, my doctor and surgeon are baffled and dont know what to do, i feel as if i am slowly dying as i am slowly becoming weaker and generally deteriorating, please can you give me any useful advice as i dont know where to turn and i am not recieving any treatment at present i am left to cope alone. thank you sue.

Dear ,I am sorry for the problems you've been having.I am unaware of these symptoms as being related to a seroma and, furthermore, they are not even typical of what one usually sees. You should be able to exclude a seroma with an MRI or CT Scan.At that point, though, I think you need a more extensive workup from an internist. This does not sound to be like it's related to your surgery (I realize that anything is possible but this is very unusual) so I think you'll need the workup, with various blood tests, etc. You may even need assessments from several different types of specialists.Again, I'm very sorry about that, but I hope that this helps a bit,Dr. Ewww.bodysculpture.com
