HI Sherry

I understand how you feel only from a mothers perspective. My daughter is in

the same situation. It breaks my heart that I can't do more for her. I stay

here because good and bad posts about implants, you will " hear " it here. :)

I don't post often but read alot to keep up with the new happenings with

CI's.

Hi Sherry,

I don't know if you've already unsubscribed from the list, but I'm sorry to

hear about the news you received today. Have you thought about being

evaluated at another CI center? Perhaps they will consider implanting your

deaf ear -- especially since you have severe-profound loss in the other ear.

If you want to look into hearing aids and an FM system, you may want to

contact the Lion's Club, vocational rehabilitation (VR) or similar

organization in your area for funding.

Good luck!

Please stay. I would like to suggest that you go to a qualified CI Center

before you are accept this. Your hearing does seem quite good but only a

qualified CI Center can tell you whether or not you are a candidate. If you

need to know where to find one, contact me privately and I'll be happy to help

you. I'll need to know where you live. You might also consider the BAHA if the

CI Center says you don't qualify for a cochlear implant. Many CI Centers do the

BAHA as well. You can read about it here.

need not fear,, i use the FM system regularlly and not own it... The church

where I worship has own system which I " borrow " from them during the

service.... the College provides me with their FM system... Most if not all

HA are

already equiped to be FM compatable by use of T-switch (it goes by several

names).

Seeing a VR counselor is a good start as someone suggested, so as Lion's

Club.

Good luck! Hope for the best for you :-)
