Dede,

I hope you contacted your insurance company. They should pay to

replace the computer and anything else that is damaged. They did

when it hit my house years ago.

Glad you are ok, but I bet the ions in your body are out of whack.

Welcome back! . ..

You can tell we were getting really worried about you!

That stuff would stop working, then start working again is curious! . . . I guess you can just be thankful for small favors.

Thank God you are safe!

LOL! . . . And I couldn't think of your last name! . . . When it's right there in your address! Duh!

Hi Dede,

Having your ions reversed can make you feel very weird.

I am doing ok, chemo again in 8 days. My sister is having her knee

replaced the same morning. It will be crazy around here when she

gets out of the hospital and the rehab unit. She has the guest room

downstairs, so will not be going up and down much. I will be trying

to avoid getting my hands in dishwater (not supposed to do that with

the hand/foot syndrome) and trying to keep my hands from getting bad,

which would delay the next chemo by weeks. Definitely don't want to

do that. Want to get it over with. So, may be eating out a lot for

a week or two, which I cannot afford, so maybe not. We will find

some solution. Not supposed to wear waterproof gloves. Hands have to

breathe. No hot water, not even for showers, has to be lukewarm

always. It is my biggest battle, keeping my hands from getting to

second stage, they got to third stage a couple of months back and

delayed my chemo. I am very careful, icing them several times a day

and keeping them with good creams (calendula salve, pure

lanolin, etc). I have to wear cotton gloves most of the time and keep

socks on to keep the salve on my feet. Between that and fighting

canker sores, watching what I eat so it is not too acid because chemo

affects the lining of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach. I

have to take zantac sometimes for my digestion because the chemo

affects my stomach so much. All in all, I feel pretty good, just

have to be careful a lot. I have at least 3 more chemos to go now,

since they added two. We will wait on the PET scan after #8 to see

if I have to do more than 8.

Hope you get the stuff from the lightning taken care of. It can be a

nuisance, for sure, dealing with insurance companies and waiting for

replacements.

Lynda,

It's certainly busy at your place! . . . Please tell your sister she has our prayers too.

It sounds like it's going to be time to get a bunch of paper plates, bowls, plastic dinnerware . . .

Anything to keep from getting your hands wet . . .

How about meals on wheels? . . . Would they deliver food to you for a little while?

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

Rogene,

Probably I would not eat the food that comes from meals on wheels. I

buy organic and am very picky about what I put into my body.

I have thought about paper plates, but the pans and pots are what

gets you when you go to clean them. I have used tongs and a

dishbrush. But I cannot use a lot of pressure, like cutting hard

veggies or scrubbing pots. That causes pain and is clearly on the

list of things they tell you not to do. So, I have to be very careful.

I am sure I will get by somehow. Maybe Bob will have to scrub a few

pots that are stuck on for a month. Something will work out.

I will tell my sister. I am sure she appreciates it. Her church has

her on their prayer list, I am sure. She doesn't say much to them

about her problems until after the fact, though. They know about her

dental surgery as she was in bed on pain pills last Sunday. She will

miss a few Sundays when she has knee surgery. They will know then for sure.

I find it hard to wait for the info. that comes from the PET

scan. The time in between them is hard to deal with sometimes, but I

try not to spend time thinking about it. I just want to see great

progress in early August when I get the next one.

Hello Clynn ~

How are you doing? are you healed now?

Ya, that was a wild experience here last sunday.

The other weird thing about it was my tree getting

struck 2 weeks before that........very strange......

Everything seems to be working now except my computer

so, I will just take it in and have it checked. I think the modem

blew. Otherwise, all is well.

Wow Dede, how scary. I am glad you weren't hit or your house didn't

sustain more damage. I am sorry about our electrical devices

though. Hopefully insurance can help you out.

s Ministries never even answered my phone calls, left two messages.

Her relief society will bring some meals when she gets home from the

hospital, I am sure. But, for the 10 days right after my chemo, I am

on my own. I did it the first two months when they hand not reduced

the amount of the chemo, so I am sure I will get by. We did eat out

a lot back then, but all I could eat for a week was chicken noodle

soup and stuff like that. Thank God since they reduced the amount I

am given I can eat mostly normal meals, just have to watch the acid

content, as it gets me the entire month.

Cleaning is not a big problem, I let the Roomba do the vacuuming and

dusting can be done a bit at a time. It is laundry, changing sheets,

and cleaning pots and pans that is the big challenge, plus keeping

the plants all watered outside. Bob may have to help with the

outside, I will have to show him everything three times, at

least. He is 86 and forgetful. Keeping up with the garden is also a

problem, but I will have to do it somehow. Lots of greens for salads

and lots of broccoli. Tomatoes are just starting.

Lynda,

The thing that keeps coming to mind is coping . . . we learn to cope, regardless of what comes our way. It sounds like you've been doing a tremendous amount of coping. We'll pray things get easier really soon.

I'm doing OK . . . except for anxiety and some pain. I'm gradually taking more pain medication - still a low dose though. I've decided to try to beat the pain to the punch by taking it before it starts . . . If it breaks through, I'll take it a little sooner next time. Just light touch or movement can set it off. I anticipate, as well as dread, the surgery.

It's a bummer . . . but what can you do but take it day by day and deal with whatever comes my way.

Love,

Rogene

Absolutely true, one day at a time. That is how I have to do it right now.

Coping I am good at, but would rather not have to do so much of it.

I guess you will have that bad haircut again, just when it has grown

out and looks decent, right????

I would dread the surgery also. I remember having panic attacks just

trying to get into the door for my first chemo.

I am surprised they have not done radiation before the surgery to

stop the progress of the cancer. They do that often.

Lynda,

I don't understand why there isn't any pre-treatment available either . . . radiation I can understand because they need to see the tissues undamaged . . . The CT scan didn't show a tumor. . . just the biopsy. Based on how my neck has itched for a long time, I suspect the cancer has been in the partoid gland for a long time. . . Only surgery will tell. My feeling is that the first surgery wasn't as extensive as necessary. .. They should have done this one the first time. . . but caution ruled. . . I don't regret that.

Not only will I have a lousy haircut again, but when I get the screw implanted for a hearing aid, I'll get another lousy haircut. I'm letting a top layer grow to cover things up as much as possible. Ialso have a couple cute hats that do a good job of covering most of it - without looking suspicious.

I'm trying everything at my disposal to discourage the cancer . . . no sugar, lots of probiotics, Reiki, FAR infrared light, meditation, prayer, etc. . . If there's going to be a miracle, I need it soon.

Rogene,

I totally understand that if there is to be a miracle, it has to be soon.

I am glad the hats mostly cover the damage. I have not lost my hair,

but I am using a cold cap when I do the chemo.

I am doing probiotics, Reiki, massage, chiropractic, good diet,

meditation, prayer, and EMDR also. I am just trying to roll with

the flow and not be anxious or fearful, just be grateful for the time

I have here. Only God knows how much time that will be, but I told

my oncologist that I fully expect him to help keep me alive for at

least 5 years, and he said he fully expected to do just that.

Hope your outcome is better than mine will be in the end.

Dede,

She said it was too big for her to take care of. She referred me to

a surgeon. I asked if we could just band it and he said no, way too

big!! He said he could completely remove but I will be off of work

for 3 weeks. I can't do that right now because I was just off for 2

weeks with my ovary surgery!

So he cut and drained it. I do feel relief but I am still bleeding.

I have went through two large pads and bled through two pair of

pants! I hope the bleeding slows soon. I am already anemic how it

is.

He does feel like it will come back so may need removal in the future

(at a better time). It hurt so bad! I couldn't help but cry. Tears

were running off my face all over the doctor's table and pillow. I

am happy it is gone though.

Bye bye Roy.

Goodmorning Lynn ~

Awe, sweetheart, I am so sorry it was

so painful and messy ! Bless your heart ! !

I am glad he bled it for you.

Big soft hugs to you ! !

I hope you feel better today ! ! My sister

has Roy visiting her right now, and she is trying

to pack to move, and is also working on her house

to make it market ready. She says Roy has multiple

personality disorder right now with 3 way personality, and all trying to compete with each other at one time.

I hope she will go to the doc and get some help to get rid of him ! !

Lynn,

My husband had one of those lanced before we got married (1961) and

it never came back, so maybe it won't. He bled a lot also, but it was

not quite as big as yours.

Hello Sweetie,

Pain killers are bad about making bricks

out of your ......stuff...

Get a squirt bottle, and squirt your bum with

it, use warm water in the bottle.

also, get some huggie baby wipes with shea

butter, they are very soothing !

I hope these ideas help you !

That is great news Lynda! Thanks for sharing. I know I need it to

bleed and leave but I should have asked how much it will bleed. It

is still bleeding this morning. I won't worry about it though.

Hugs, Lynn

Dede,

I can't do the pain killers because the just make my constipation

worse! Errr...

I am sore and still bleeding. Plus, the doc wants me to drink Milk

of Mag and Prune Juice until I get the runs. Well it didn't take

long! The kids are RUNNING to the pool. But I can't figure out how

to wipe when I have a big old VERY sore laceration on my butt!

Nice conversation... :) could only say this stuff here....
