Hi Sara,

I'm new around here but very familiar with scale addiction. It has only been

about 10 days since I stopped weighing/packed away my scale, but it's probably

the 30th time I've done it in the last 15 years. In the past, each time I decide

to stop weighing, I think of the magazine and internet articles that suggest

frequent/daily weigh ins is a must for those who want to stay on top of their

weight. We, as women, are constantly bombarded by conflicting so called " facts "

about weight loss. I can't say I'm cured of this addiction or cured of what I

consider my food addiction, but right now, today, this minute, I'm in a good

place.

Like most everyone else, I have a lot of stress in my life: I am a 38 yr old FT

legal assistant with two boys aged 16 and nine. I have a great husband...who

recently accepted another promotion (our last move took us to our location just

a little over a year ago) and now we are moving again in six weeks to a place we

don't really want to go. Our nine year old is okay with the move, but our 16 yr

old is understandably beyond upset having to move right before his junior year,

and of course he has a girlfriend he doesn't want to leave. The thing is, our

family doesn't want to stay here either. Our dream, our goal, is to live in a

certain place, and my husband has been applying for jobs there for nearly a

year. I guess the extra stressful part is knowing that we'll be relocating our

kids AGAIN as soon as a good job comes through in our desired area.

Regarding weight issues, I will assume that actual scale numbers are a no-no, so

I'll just say I've gained 20 lbs since moving here due to the way I've dealt

with stress: binge eating. Although I discovered I.E. a few years ago on a

weight loss message board on MSN (I love the concept of paying attention to your

body, stayinng in the moment; I actually find it akin to spirituality) now that

I am back to using I.E. (which is pretty uncommon, as you well know) I'm looking

for fellow I.E.rs who share the same struggles and triumphs...who know this is

the way and wish others would consider it.

Thank you, in advance, for your support...I will be there for you, as well. Take

care.

Jodi
