Oh, Rogene, I agree with Carey. You have been so brave and strong, and we will all pray that you are cancer free. Thank you for letting us know that you are back, but please take care of yourself.

Sending love and prayers to you....we love you so......Lea

Thanks to all for your concern, cards, calls, emails, and, especially, your prayers!I came home Wednesday, six days after surgery for ear cancer . . . still exhausted and brain fogged, but considering everything, I'm doing well. They would have kept me another week if I insisted - but enough was enough. It's good to be home! I'm able to take care of my personal needs - and my hubby is taking care of everything else beautifully. Getting well from here is every bit as exciting, but probably not as fast, as watching grass grow. It's just going to take time and patience from here on out. I'm off pain meds but still on a broad spectrum antibiotic (for way too long to make my gut happy). Hopefully when I complete it, my gut will respond to a healthy regimen of probiotics. I'm blaming much of my fatigue on the antibiotics right now. At least my head is clearing from most of the drugs.Surgery was every bit as extensive as they could make it. They tell me the margins and lymph nodes were clear of cancer. They harvested a muscle (free flap) from my stomach to replace one in my face and to support my ear. Right now, the results are pretty obvious - but that should get better with time. Current plans are to remove staples and stitches next Tuesday. Then, 3-4 weeks after surgery, begin 6-7 weeks of radiation therapy. The surgeon referring me for radiation said he has high hopes that I won't lose my sense of taste, smell or salivary glands permanently. I badly need that hope right now. This is my first time on the computer. I haven't begun to read messages yet. . . Just putting this message together is my big goal for the day.Again . . . thanks for all your support! I love you ladies!Love,Rogene
