I'm pretty sure I remember hearing in the CD of the IE book, in the nutrition chapter, that it's fine to substitute low calorie/low fat foods for higher calorie/fat if you don't strongly prefer the higher calorie/fat foods.

I don't much like milk of any kind, but I can sometimes tolerate lowfat/skim milk, whereas full-fat milk tastes awful to me. It certainly wouldn't make sense for me to force myself to drink something I hated! Now ice cream is a different story, though I've gotten to really like some of the WW ice cream treats.

Re: ? About Diet Sodas

I agree, Meg. I must say that I questioned my instinct to continue to go for diet sodas etc but realized that I don't like the taste of regular sodas and prefer the diet. I have also struggled with continuing with skim milk vs whole. But I like skim milk. I don't crave whole milk in my cereal or coffee or anything. So, I am starting to not doubt myself when it comes to that stuff. I still find it challenging to choose certain foods over other lower calorie foods, though. This has been a difficult thing to let go of.

I know diet sodas are probably worse for the body than regular sodas (the whole tricking your body thing). At the same time, most US domestic sodas use high-fructose corn syrup, which, it seems, is also pretty evil.I prefer diet sodas. Regular soda makes my teeth hurt (at least in America--I've had better luck with sodas in other countries--I suspect they use actual sugar). However, I realized several months ago that I was drinking way too much soda. I was drinking 2-3 cans a day. I decided to do something very anti-IE, I suppose. I banned them from my life for 30 days. The first day was fine. Then the headaches came. I was miserable and cranky for a week. After that, however, the rest of the month was pretty easy. During that time, I got used to drinking

water.NOW, I drink soda when we eat out at restaurants, at occassionally at home. The thing is, instead of consuming 24 oz+ every day, I drink more like one cup a day--when we have it in the house, which is less often than not! I consume a ton of water, and while it's had no affect on my weight, I FEEL better. What I really love is aloe vera juice/pulp drink. Yummmmmy. I got hooked on it in Korea. Ha!
