Guest guest
What fun! OK so you hurt a little! It's so worth it isn't it? That's what I try to explain to Ronnie. He says "Why do you do that if you know you're going to hurt?" Well, because it's worth it! I'm glad you had so much fun! I had fun reading about it and my hands even hurt with you shucking corn! what a day Whew, I'm give out. I've been going since early this morning. We went to the First Sat trades day and I'd never seen so many local vendors there. Loads of fresh produce, mmmmm. lol We got a bushel of kandy corn for $8, plus cucumber, squash or different kinds and other stuff. The to WalMart and then to the grocery store. I think we got home right at noon. Had lunch and rested awhile, went to sleep and I snuck out to start shuckin' the corn and he woke up and came out to help me. I think we got almost 100 ears of corn in the freezer. That's sure gonna be good later this year. Then another small rest and I fixed supper. Then we went fishing for awhile, we go where we can sit in chairs or I don't go. lol After we got hot and melty from all the humidity (we had a big storm last night) we went to our little town and got ice cream cones. lol Man they were good when we were so hot. Then we decided to go into another little town and watch the fireworks. So we didn't get home until about 10, then had to feed the critters and now its time to rest before I hit the sack. I sure had fun today, and my knees and back are sure telling me I way overdid it. I'm numb all over right now. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did today. Guest guest
How do you prepare your corn for the freezer? Do you blanche it and then freeze it on the cob? Freezing corn is a big job...I've helped my Mom do that on several occarisions. It is so tiring when you are doing it but so worth it when you reap the rewards next winter. Don't overdo it so much though. Glad you got to top it off with the ice cream. We've have big thunderstorms for the past couple of days. We were expecting them yesterday but today they said none were expected....we went our to do a couple of errands and it turned black skies and stormed within 15 minutes. Puddles everywhere. It did feel good to get out of the house though. Jane what a day Whew, I'm give out. I've been going since early this morning. Guest guest
We've done it that way already but I've never been pleased with it later...the texture isn't crisp enough for me...so now we shuck it, desilk it, wash it blanch it, cut it off the cob and freeze it in bags or containers and I like it that way. I have yet to have frozen corn on the cob that pleases me...especially the birds eye ( and other brands) that was down right mushy. Kathy RE: what a day How do you prepare your corn for the freezer?
