Guest guest
Well, the bad news is that there was no change on the PET scan between April and August. The other bad news is that chemotherapy will continue through at least January, but with a different chemotherapy agent, Gemzar. On the bad side, it is a weekly chemo. 3 weeks on and 1 week off, unless the blood counts are too low, then 2 weeks on and one week off. Also probably will have to have injections to bring up both red and white blood counts. This drug is not supposed to cause peripheral neuropathy or hand/foot syndrome, and has a 15% chance of hair loss, usually minimal. This begins on August 15th, one week from today. Nothing more to report, except that I am damned upset that there was no progress with three months of chemo and that I have to continue with chemo for at least 6 more months. I may pull my hair out, so may not have to worry about hair loss. Lynda
Guest guest
Lynda, I am very sorry to hear that things are so relentlessly difficult. It just sounds so hard. I'm sending you good wishes that the new chemo could really hits the bull's eye this time. xo Bindi > > Well, the bad news is that there was no change on the PET scan > between April and August. Guest guest
Lynda, this makes me so angry. Bless your precious heart, but if this will make you well again, it will be worth it. We will walk with you through this journey of healing, and I might pull all of my hair out too. We love you honey...Lea and ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update on chemo and PET scan Well, the bad news is that there was no change on the PET scan between April and August. Guest guest
Lea, It does not mean it will make me well. It if works, I may have 2 years, if it does not work, I probably have 1 year or maybe a little more or less. Lynda At 08:53 AM 8/10/2008, you wrote: >Lynda, this makes me so angry. Guest guest
Oh Lynda,I had hoped the chemo was helping much more! . . . I know the news is devastating. Your strength continues to amaze me! . . . Somehow, someway, you're going to get through this so you can enjoy the wonderful things you're planning.Keeping you in my prayers,Love,Rogene

Guest guest
Lynda,Listening to Reach MD on satellite radio today, they were talking about Radio Ablation Therapy and Cyrogenic therapy for metastasized cancer . . . Has anyone discussed either with you? . . . Not a cure-all . . . but it may address specific sites.I like the sentiment one doctor expressed when a patient came to him with really bad odds . . . After running the tests, he came back with a report saying that, in none of the tests, could he find an expiration date . . . The patient did very well under his care.Hugs and prayers,Rogene
Guest guest
Rogene, Did radio ablation therapy for my RSD, did not help. Don't know anything about Cryogenic therapy, but have heard of heating the cancer up about 7 degrees and cooking it. That is called ablation. My doc rejected this idea. Guest guest
Lynda,Cryogenic therapy is just the opposite . . . probes are put into the tumor and cells are frozen. unfortunately, there is some collateral damage with either therapy. My ear doc tells me there are means to inject certain materials into tumors, then direct some type of radio waves to the material. Supposedly only the cancer cells absorb the materials and are affected by the electronic waves.Recently 60 Minutes featured a segment on something like this that should be available sometime in not-too-distant future. In this case, they are attaching antibodies to gold nano particles that are heated by radio waves. . . It's appears to be working great in test animals. . . I think the challenge is finding antibodies that are not only specific to certain cancers, but getting them to bind with nano particles. The beauty of the process is that it can find cancer, anywhere in the body - and the radio waves are harmless to everything except the cancer cells. I think M.D. , as well as other research organizations, are working on this.Love,Rogene Re: Update on chemo and PET scanRogene, Did radio ablation therapy for my RSD, did not help.
