Guest guest
Last night I didn't eat dessert for the first time (at least to intentionally not want to eat it). I had been feeling a bit bloated for weeks and took the time to really sit with that feeling and try to work out what it was. Then later, after dinner (I was hungry then) when I normally crave something sweet, I started to imagine how I would feel after I ate it and the possibility of increasing that bloated feeling actually cancelled out my mouth hunger for something sweet. This was I think the first time I have acted on how I might feel later, so I am celebrating that as a win, a milestone over instant gratification. It made me wonder, as one progresses with intuitive eating, does the gap in time between desire and outcome decrease? That is, ultimately I will look at some food that makes me feel yucky later and immediately feel that yucky feeling and avoid the food? I have had that kind of a gap reduced in other aspects of my life when dealing with emotional problems. Fiona
