Guest guest
I admit I am on the blood pressure. Due to all the stress I was under. Very heavy stress. That is one thing cause your blood pressure high. Not only because of your foods habit. Though if you want to at least lose weight without feel like being punish. Then find something like low fats meats. Change your eating timing. Meditation during your free time if you don't have any. I would make up a time because it help to calm you down. Such as that. I can't seem to diet successfully, to the point where my blood pressure is at a safe level. I'm attempting to increase the activity level in my life, and I've decreased my sodium intake rather significantly, but being a single mom and working a full time job I'm having a hard time doing anything for myself, including diet and exercise. Any advice on how to effectively get the blood pressure under control without all the pressure and guilt of not staying on a diet?

Guest guest
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure a couple years ago. Believe me, I didn't want to go on the medication either. I was angry at first. But after understanding what might happen if I ddin't go on the medication changed my mind. Also, my grandmother went off BP medication and had a stroke. I didn't want to have a stroke at age 40! I am on the lowest dose of HTCZ and Lisinopril (sp?). The last few times I've been in to have my BP checked it has been in normal ranges. I too am a single mother and I find that deep, diaphramatic breathing is a huge help, especially when stressed. I also love yoga and gentle stretching - even if it's just 5 minutes. Journaling also helps and I am also a bath taker. I can actually tell when my BP is elevated - I know that sounds crazy as they call it the silent killer because there are no symptoms. But I find my breathing is more difficult and more shallow, I tend to get headaches and I can feel my blood pulsing through my body. When I get these sesations, I evaluate what is going on, usually I am stressed and emotional or not feeling well physically. And then I do things that just help me to relax, are soothing and feel like good self care. Hope this helps. Wishing you the best, Alana > > I'm battling high blood pressure and my doctor has given me two chances to get the weight off (about 25-30 lbs.), or she'll be putting me on medication (which I really don't want).
