Guest guest
Spread the word: Statin Drugs are Dangerous - Club CDFreaks - Knowledge is Power Spread the word: Statin Drugs are Dangerous More and more Doctors are pushing Statin drugs on their patients with high cholesterol. Statins can be very dangerous. They can and have caused irreversable muscle damage in patients, and have caused death from muscles literally rotting away and clogging the kidneys. I know this, because I am one of the people who was handicapped by one of these Statin drugs. First, there are numerous studies which show that Statin Drugs are not recommended due to the problems that they can cause, including studies which show possible heart damage with prolonged use, studies which show that lowering cholesterol isn't always a good thing, and studies which show that there are many safe alternatives to taking prescription drugs. There are numerous safe alternatives to lower your cholesterol. These include diet, fish oil capsules, and taking 1 baby asprin daily, and numerous other time proven and safe drugs. If you or anyone that you know, is taking or thinking about taking any of the prescription medications for high cholesterol, please research before you start. If anyone notices any muscle pain, cramps, aching, you may already have damage that can not be reversed. I was only on one of these drugs for 30 days, at the lowest available dose, and the past two years of my life have been hell. This is not a rare condition as is stated by the drug companies. Many people have this to some degree, and their doctors explain it away as fibromyalgia, or some other condition. I've seen doctors and specialists from all over, to the tune of over $250,000.00 in medical, and nobody can help. Attorneys won't go after the drug company, unless you are dying or dead, and I can't currently prove that I'm dying yet. Though it has been progressively worsening over time, so far, I'm only considered disabled, not dying. The drug reps take these doctors and their staffs out to lunch, in exchange for pushing their drugs on unsuspecting patients, who don't know any better, and trust their doctors advice. But what if the doctors don't know the dangers of these drugs. What if the drug companies are being truthful. Did you know that after Crestor was put on the market, the FDA, ordered them to upgrade their warning label. A short time later, the FDA ordered them to quit all advertising, until they again upgraded their warning to include problems that weren't previously stated. This is not the only drug on instance of this type of problem. Don't take my word for it either. Check out www.impostertrial.com, www.spacedoc.net, or search for statin injury. Search for information on recalled Drugs, or for a specific drug, and injuries related to it. These drugs have affected far more people than was previously believed. People have died from taking these pills for ONE day. After just one month on these pills, I have lost 50% of my total muscle strength, have muscle spasms, cramps, and pain, 24hrs a day 7 days a week, have to take medication to be able to sleep, have frequent fevers, high white blood cell count, general tiredness and weakness, to the point where I can't even drive a car for more than 25 minutes without my muscles tiring to the point where I can no longer steer the car. If you or anyone you know has had problems with any drug, statin or not, please talk them into posting their information on an appropriate forum, as that is the only way to prove how many people are actually being affected. I'm not here looking for any sympathy, and I'm not pushing anybodies web site or forum. If I can save one person from going through what my family and I have been through, it will be more than worth it. Please spread the word by any means you know. In my small office alone, I know of 12 people who heard about my condition, and noticed that they were starting to experience similar side effects, and were able to stop taking the medication on time. This is 12 out of 50 people, in one small office. I was just the unfortunate one who was prescribed this junk right when it was first marketed, and received no warnings at all. Statins are one of the top selling drugs right now, because there are millions of people with slightly high cholesterol (which isn't in itself, necessarily a bad thing). Your body needs cholesterol to function properly. __________________ Rob Re: Spread the word: Statin Drugs are Dangerous In reference to DRCY's post: I wish you well in your medical career, and I hope that as you continue your training that you keep your eyes and ears open. I have talked to at least 6 or 7 people here in our small little town, who have relatives that work in Dr. Offices. They all agree that the drug reps. are taking these folks out to lunches, dinners, and more, on the average of two or three days per week. I'm sorry, but we impeach and/or remove or congress and senate for following these same practices. This is a very flawed system, and the people who pay the price, are the patients. Your lists for the percentage of people who have problems with statin drugs all come from people who the drug companies paid to perform the research. Of course they give the results that the drug companies want to here, or they don't get paid to do the trials anymore. DUH! And this is a fact. The chief doctor for the FDA stated that statin drugs should not be on the market. Search the internet, and you can find the letter that he sent the fda, and his congressional testimony.... Yes, some people do get better after stopping the statins. But there are also a lot more who do not. I have been off of them for two years. And, that was the ONLY drug I was taking, and there was nothing in my diet that interacted with this medication. It was solely the medication that did this. If a drug company is going to market a medication, they should be prepared to treat any and all side effects, or provide a more realistic warning. There are hundreds of people out there (if not many more), who have long term, or perminent side effects from statin drugs. And there is no known cure. The web links I posted www.impostertrial.com (is a legitate site, and is from Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego). It is one of the few hospitals that are doing clinical trials on statin drugs and the injuries. The www.spacedoc.net site is from a NASA doctor who had a statin injury and decided to do something about it. I have also run into two local doctors who had muscle problems from statin drugs. I've only seen 7 doctors. That is 2 out of seven. That doesn't seem to follow the figures provided by the drug companies. I have used good resources to educate myself. There are numerous doctors out there who are starting to tell of the dangers of statins. I appreciate your thoughts, but I've been studying this and this alone, for at least 18 months, on a daily basis. After you have done a couple of months doing extensive research on statin injuries, and checking forums where people have posted their problems with all statin drugs, please come back here and tell me if your opinion has changed. If you look at the numbers here (12 people out of 40 in my office have experience some sort of statin injury with muscle problems). Two out of the seven doctors I've seen in the past 18 months have experienced muscle injury from statin drugs. Either I am just incredibly good at finding people who have had statin injury, or the problem is much much larger than the drug companies are telling us. I firmly believe, that in the next year, the numbers of people reporting long term statin injuries will go up by well over 50%. I had to go through 6 doctors, before I could even find one that would look into the possibility, because doctors don't want to believe that their meal ticket (drug reps), can be doing this to them. Please do not take my word for any of this. Just do the searches on google and check out the following web sites: http://www.mercola.com/2004/jul/21/statin_drugs.htm http://ourhealthcoop.com/pauling.htm http://www.medicalconsumers.org/page..._skeptics.html http://pubs.acs.org/cen/news/83/i22/8322notw9.html http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dai...01-01-vol1.pdf __________________ Rob http://club.cdfreaks.com/f1/spread-word-statin-drugs-dangerous-165588/ **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go.
