Hi Dede,

I am doing ok, fighting the hand/foot syndrome, chemo on Monday.

My sister's surgery was delayed because she has a sinus infection.

I don't know what your father's problems mean, when I had chemo 18

years ago they did not do tests like that. I think the scan is a

good idea, as it will tell you a lot about his condition and relieve

your mind about his cancer returning (hopefully). I have a PET scan

on Aug. 5th to see how much of my cancer is gone.

Love,

Lynda

Hello Lynda ~

I hope that your tumors are very small,

better yet, gone ! I know this chemo has

been alot to handle, but if you have to have

2 extra ones, then, I know you can get through

those, you are a very strong woman ! I am

amazed at all you have had to deal with, and

you still give of yourself. Very inspiring !

Dad was by earlier, and he is very tired and said

he is getting much more fatigued than he should.

I think he knows his cancer is brewing in there.

His doc said he couldnt feel the big one still, so

that is good, as it was the size of a grapefruit back

in october, and was causing him so much pain.

He is only 160 lbs. I did mention what you said

about the stronger chemo, if he has to have more.

I hope your sis gets scheduled soon too, so she

will start feeling better quickly.

Hugs and Prayers to you both !

Dede,

I have not have a thoracentesis for months, at least 3 months, maybe

longer. We knew the chemo was working because it dried up the

lung. The last PET scan showed tumors half the size of the first

scan, so if they are less than half the size of the last scan, I will

be a lot happier. I want them to be gone on very small so that 2

more treatments after tomorrow will be the end of it.

Several studies have shown that chemotherapy in normal strength does

not affect elderly patients any more than younger ones. Depending on

his health, he may need to opt for stronger chemo. I see 80

something men and women receiving chemo when I am in, and my doctor

says that they do quite well with the normal dosage. As well as 60

and 70 year olds do.

I do hope my sister can reschedule for early next week. She needs to

get this done so she can get home by October something. I will still

be doing chemo if the next two don't kill all of the lung and liver

tumors. I have one in each. Of course it will not kill the bone

cancer, so I am stuck with that.

I hope your dad does ok and is able to fight his cancer.

Love,

Lynda

I've had an interesting day . . . Went to the ER because my ear (where they did the surgery) gotten more painful, red and swollen since surgery . . .

Turns out I have an abcess . . They drained it . . . put me on AB's . . . will check it Tuesday to see if it's progressing properly. . . If necessary they'll open the incision, clean it out and put a drain in Tuesday. It must be cleared up before surgery on the 24th.

I'm praying this will make the pain will go away and that I won't need nearly as extensive a procedure as was planned! . . . The surgeon hadn't considered an infection as the cause of my pain as recently as Friday. I saw one of his associates today.

Hugs,

Rogene

Hi Lynda . . .

Seriously . . . use your FAR infrared blanket. . . .

There are scientific studies that prove that FAR infrared improves PN in as little as one treatment. My daughter sees the results on a regular basis.

One local therapy center uses something that looks like a huge boot (open down the front) to treat PN. . . The local newspaper reported on one of the patients that got incredible results.

Rogene

Thanks a . . . and all the rest of you loving ladies . . .

Prayers do get answered - sometimes in strange ways. I'm praying this abscess turns out to be an answer to a bunch of prayers.

God Bless,

Rogene

Seems like we have had enough problems, doesn't it? Hope this takes

care of your pain.

I think I might be getting peripheral neuropathy from the

chemo. They say that it is usually temporary. I will ask more when

I see the doc. That will be 2 weeks, as I see the P.A. before my

chemo tomorrow.

It is not bad, just a bit of numbness in my hands and feet. Could

just be the hand/foot syndrome and it will go away when I finish chemo.

Rogene,

My FAR infrared blanket is for winter, I don't have a summer one. I

would die from the heat, and it would make my hand/foot syndrome much

worse as I have to keep hands and feet cool.

When I am finished with chemo and when it is cooler (over 90 today),

I can try it.

Yeah Lynda . . . I was wondering about the heat in summer . . . Just know that, when this is over, any PN can be addressed with FAR infrared. You're going to beat this . . . just wish it was faster!Love,Rogene
