I assumed all was fine with my implants-ive never had one problem yet. till now. my last mammo showed calcifications (that was 2 yrs ago) i skipped the one due last year. Calcifications, 2 years ago, that IS a complication.....here is some info on the subject.... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2672359 Young VL, Bartell T, Destouet JM, Monsees B, Logan SE. Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO 63110.We have presented a case of bilateral capsular calcification, an extremely rare but clinically important complication of augmentation mammoplasty. Little is known about its pathogenesis, but it is believed to be related to the presence of molecular silicone and/or Dacron patches in the pericapsular environment. This condition may mask calcifications of the breast due to carcinoma, and it often exacerbates the symptoms of capsular contracture. We recommend removal of the calcified capsules and replacement of the implants in the submuscular position.PMID: 2672359 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE] [PDF]Nanobacteria and Breast Implant Capsule Contract... trating complication of augmentation mammoplasty. Calcifications: In some cases, breast implants which have been in the body for many years will develop calcification of the scar tissue around the implant. In some cases, these calcific precipitations are hard to distinguish from the calcifications seen n breast cancer. Thus a thorough evaluation of a patient is needed to ensure that there is no breast cancer brewing a, I know I have calcifications, when I move certain ways, I can feel them scratching me in there and sometimes it feels like it s raw and bleeding in there. From what I have read, that can cause a hematoma to form ! Just please be careful ! ! **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today.
