I'm Type 1 and so insulin dependent, but exercise is always a good way

to bring slightly high blood sugars down, as long as they aren't too high.

high sugar question

hello all,

just wondering for those of you who don't take insulin, but on pills to

maintain sugars, like Metformin, or other meds, what do you do when your

sugars are on the high side?

I awoke to 197, and right now I am at 188, and all I had was a bowl of

cherrios with slim milk, and coffee, with splenda and cinnamon.

then for lunch I had half cup of tomato soup, and one slice whole wheat

grain toast, no butter, with a slice of cheese. Usually I wouldn't of ate

anything, but I have been drinking alot of water, and because of the

metformin, I need to eat something, and it is going down, but I am jus

curious what some of you do if, and when you are hit with high sugars?

I don't take any form of insulin, so just wanting to know.

thanks for patience.

Sugar,

Exercise helps to get the blood sugar, but also eating Cheerios, milk and

then tomato soup adds a lot of carbs. It is better to eat almost no carbs

when the sugar is up and to stick to protein and low carb vegetables.

Yes, Sugar, that would be good. They usually don't recommend exercising

unless your sugar is around 250 or more.

Aren't we lucky to live in CA and miss all the snow and cold the East coast

is getting? We just returned from a 3 day cruise and the weather was

wonderful the whole 3 days. Unfortunately, my poor husband caught some sort

of virus and had to isolated to our room for 24 hours; we decided that we

will have to go again to " catch up " with the day we lost!

Sugar,

I forgot, I also put a vinegar dressing on the vegetables, the vinegar seems

to bring down the sugar faster!

I use a red wine vinegar, and just a little olive oil, with garlic and

oregano.

Re: high sugar question
