What a jerk!!! He obviously doesn't understand a womans compassion! We don't want anybody to suffer the way we have and go through the living hell of trying to get well after implants. He just doesn't get it! If he thinks they are so safe he should prove it by having an implant put in his body!

Boy is this doctor desperate for money or what ? ?

Breast augmentation: What about the really scary websites about breast implants?http://dr-dowden. com/faqs/ implscar. html V. Dowden, M.D., C.M., F.A.C.S.Certified by the American Board of Plastic SurgeryCosmetic and Plastic Surgery, Inc.6770 Mayfield Road, Suite 410(Mayfield Heights) Cleveland, Ohio 44124(440) 449-7470Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about breast enlargement:What about those really scary websites about breast implants? You were supposed to be frightened! That is the objective of the sponsors of those sites! There is a small but highly vocal group of people, mostly women, who are very strongly opposed to women getting breast implants. They want implants to be gone from the face of the earth, and do not want women to have the option of getting them for any reason whatsoever. There are many different reasons behind this attitude, including: Religious opposition to cosmetic surgery. Opposition to anything men find attractive. Bitterness over inability to have implants themselves. Resentment of attractive women. Personal preference for smaller breasts.

Belief that implants cause illness. More on this. Desire to change the rules of society for women. More on this. Financial incentive to stir up fear. More on this. Personal insecurity. As one example of several of these together, there is an internet site put up by a fairly well-known talk-show hostess who is fervently anti-implant, having had a bad experience herself. At one time, she wanted implants,

and got them (silicone-filled type), and had them damaged and then operated on multiple times to try to salvage them, and now is left with scarred breasts that cannot be made to look normal, and more to the point, she can never have implants put back in. So now she attempts to make women feel foolish for desiring implants, even though she herself desired them strongly enough to go through a number of operations in order to have and keep them. But here's the amazing part: her surgeon was not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery! She conveniently neglects to mention this when discussing her hatred of implants on TV, but she did reveal it in an interview with People magazine several years ago as follows: "He wasn't board certified, but he was affordable." Well, sometimes affordable is not sufficient in the long run.How to put all this into perspective? Imagine you want to go on vacation, let's say to the Bahamas, and you need

to fly to get there. You have been looking forward to it for a long time, maybe have your reservation, and perhaps even have your tickets already. Then one day you are internet surfing, and you hit a page put up by a group strongly opposed to air-travel. On their pages they show graphic, horrible photographs of airplane crashes, in all the terrible detail. Who wouldn't be frightened?! And just maybe, they hope, you will become so fearful that your fear makes you cancel your flight and vacation completely; if so, the group has scored their objective. There are risks to surgery, just as with anything else in life, skiing, swimming, flying, driving a car, sitting in a movie theatre, sleeping at night, or walking in the woods. The decision to do any of these things must rest on the balance between how strongly you want the benefits versus how worried are you about the risks. One very important thing to note about these highly dramatic negative

sites: there is no scientific data available to support their claims. It is important to be aware of the fact that in 1996, the lawyers and judges who are trying to push through the silicone lawsuits appointed their own panel of scientists to study all the data on silicone implants. It took them until December 1998 to do so. And guess what: instead of returning with the opinion that implants cause illness, as the court expected, they concluded there was no evidence that implants cause illness! The scary websites don't mention that either. You have to ask yourself and your surgeon some questions: First, ask yourself if implants are bad, why is it that of patients whose implants were put in between 1962 and 1992, 96% would do it again? And then ask your plastic surgeon, what are the reasons that the other 4% would not do it again? The best advice: read everything (both good and bad) that you can find; make certain your surgeon is certified

by The American Board of Plastic Surgery; be sure you and your surgeon are communicating well and clearly; be sure your surgeon will be doing the surgery; be certain you are hearing about all the options; be sure you can follow all instructions completely. Then make your decision with a clear mind!| FAQS: Breast Enlargement | FAQS: Breast Enlargement Via Navel || Dr. Dowden's Home page || Ohio Breast Augmentation FAQ's Index |This page Copyright © R.V. Oh Dede~~

You are so funny! You crack me up!

But it is sooooooo true about that doctor. What an a* & !

I'm doing really good. I'm having a great week! I feel like I've crossed a hurdle this past week. I'm trying to get to bed earlier at night and it is really helping me alot! I've had to 'get over' what everyone thinks and says when I say it is my bedtime or when I don't go do things with them when they want me to. I've had to really be protective of my time so I get adequate rest. Fatigue is the main thing that I struggle with but I'll take that anyday over what I was feeling like back in Jan. and Feb.

I pray for you ladies on this site everyday. You and Rogene amaze me because despite the horrible things you are dealing with regarding your own health.....you think of others and continue to help others. You are angels among us and I'll forever be grateful to all of you.

Please take care of yourself and get the rest you need Dede.

Big Hugs,

a

The Benefits You Get From Good Sleep

Recent studies had shown the importance of a good sleep to one’s overall health and well being. When you don’t get sufficient sleep every time, you may be harming other parts of your body and putting yourself at risk of various illness like heart attack, stroke, obesity and diabetes.

Here are some important benefits you can derive from a good sleep:

– It strengthens the presence of your mind and consciousness. It makes you feel energized and physically more alert.

– It enhances your memory in a process called memory consolidation which occurs during sleep. While your body may be resting, your brain is busy processing your day, making connections between events, sensory inputs, feelings and memories. Getting adequate sleep will help you remember and process things better.

– It strengthens your immune system - lack of sleep decreases your immune response reaction making you vulnerable to infections and diseases. Adequate sleep strengthens the immune system and make you less prone to various illness.

– It reduces stress - a good sleep allows your body to rest and relax. When your body lacks sleep it goes into a state of stress. The body’s functions are put on high alert which causes a rise in blood pressure and increase in the production of stress hormones which can be detrimental to your health and well being. High blood pressure increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Moreover, a high level of stress hormones make it more difficult for you to sleep.

– It helps to lose weight - sleep deficient individuals are more likely to be overweight or obese. Sleep deprivation can trigger the release of stress hormones that had been link to increase abdominal fat. Loss of sleep reduces the level of leptin, a hormone that suppresses appetite and increases the level of ghrelin, an appetite stimulating hormone. To get a good sleep regularly means losing weight, and keeping your stress hormones level.

– It keeps your heart healthy - lack of sleep has been associated with increasing blood pressure and cholesterol levels, both risk factors for heart attack and stroke. The increase may be due to the way sleep interacts with the blood vessels and could explain why heart attacks and stroke are common during the early morning hours. For young people, eight to ten hours sleep will make their heart healthier, while for older adults, six to eight hours is enough.

– It improves overall disposition - during sleep, the part of the brain that controls emotions and social interactions slows down, allowing optimal performance when awake. Lack of sleep makes you irritable, tired and frustrated. Also, lack of sleep decreases level of neurotransmitters serotonin and makes you more likely to suffer from depression. Getting the right amount and quality sleep improves overall disposition.

Getting good, adequate and quality sleep therefore, is crucial to our well being in achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Lack of Sleep

Nearly everyone suffers from a lack of sleep at some time or another. It may be due to jet lag, anxiety, shift work, or other factors. If you are unable or unwilling to spend enough time sleeping each night, you might eventually have distressing conditions because of it.First of all, lack of sleep causes many physical effects that will go away if you finally get enough sleep. You may have blurred vision, colorblindness, feel weak or dizzy, or have dark circles under your eyes. Your hands may be shaky, and you may be impatient, irritable, or hyperactive. You may have severe headaches until you get some sleep.Lack of sleep may also lead to mental and emotional problems. Things may begin to seem unreal and you might have hallucinations. You may have memory losses or clinical depression. If you are prone to bipolar mania, lack of sleep can cause a very serious setback for you.It is now beginning to be understood that lack of sleep plays a role for many people in acquiring metabolic syndrome, which leads to diabetes. The lack of sleep causes their bodies to have trouble breaking down and using glucose. Eventually, many people develop type II diabetes under these circumstances. This same general principle is the reason many people become obese. The lack of sleep causes their bodies to lose control over their hormones for glucose metabolism and appetite. While too little movement can certainly make you gain weight, a lack of sleep can also do the same. One of the most serious problems on the road is drivers who suffer from a lack of sleep. In fact, some studies show that they are as hazardous in their driving as those who are drunk. That is partially because they have slow responses. They can even fall into micro-sleeps, in which they do not even realize they have dozed. During these short periods of sleep, accidents can happen very quickly.Lack of sleep causes different kinds of problems from minor annoyances to life-threatening diseases and predicaments.
