Applegate Is Cancer Free After Surgery

“ Who?†star Applegate, 36, is free ofcancer after having both breasts removed to combat the disease, theactress told a television news show on Tuesday.Ms. Applegate, who revealed her diagnosis for breast cancer earlierthis month, had the double-mastectomy performed a month after herdiagnosis, she said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.â€The actress, who stars in ABC sitcom “ Who?,†said she borea genetic risk for developing breast cancer, and she said her surgerywas meant to prevent the cancer she suffered in one breast from comingback. But she said it was difficult to have both breasts surgicallyremoved.“Sometimes, you know, I cry,†Ms. Applegate said. “And sometimes Iscream. And I get really angry. And I get really upset, you know, intowallowing in self-pity sometimes. And I think it’s all part of thehealing.â€
