Guest guest
Hi Tai, I think in the beginning it will be challenging for you to find balance. I just returned to the beginning of IE a few weeks ago because I was getting way off track and it was very hard the first week or so. I would still find myself eating when I wasn't hungry sometimes or overeating at a meal. But it was important to me to just practice the one principle of eat what you want when you want it to begin with. The first time I did this, the period of adjustment lasted a lot longer so don't expect to much from yourself. The most important thing at this point is to be gentle with yourself. Then maybe take some time during and/or after a meal to just check in with yourself and do a little self discovery WITHOUT judgement. However that looks to you, if journaling helps you than by all means do it. Journaling for me always brought me to a darker place so I didn't like it. Right now only eating when hungry could be a restriction because you may not know exactly what hunger is yet. Someone posted the signs of hunger here a couple of days ago from the IE book maybe you can find that post or look it up in the book. Do you have the book? It is absolutely key that we take time to experience each step of the process for as long as we need to. Each one of these steps will help you move away from the chains of food obsession but they must be experienced not just intelectualized in order to provide true change. Keep reaching out and using the support available to you, it is invaluable.Tana
