Guest guest
For all those using a pump it only takes one kind of short-acting insulin to establish a basal dose and a bolus dose for Humalog, the only insulin used in a pen. I established this factt several years ago with Jen, whom I told her theoretically it would only dtake one kind of insulin to function in the pump, and fortunately Jen confirmed my thinking. She told me her pump only uses Humalog. For those of us like me who use two kinds of insulin like Lantus for basal insulin and Humalog for bolus dosage or basal dosage the calculations will vary from one kind of insulin to another kind of insulin. I am sure there is some formula to determine the basal dose of Humalog to use, but I do not know what it is. Maybe Jen can help out here. No matter what it is a period of observation is required to regulate the dosage required for the basal dose as well as the bolus dose. still seeking satori, Harry
