Guest guest
thanks Meg, I really appreciate the advise Jen > > I think the best thing to do is to pay attention to what you're eating (I mean be present while you're eating it) and really try to enjoy it. Be conscious of how full you are and if you feel that you're starting to eat too much, try to do something to physically separate yourself from the food or the situation (discarding of the food in some way or even just pushing it away, or moving away from the buffet and trying to talk more with people at the event). And if you eat too much despite everything else, don't beat yourself up about it, just figure it's the holidays and it's okay to overindulge a bit. > > Hope that helps. > > Meg >

Guest guest
Jen, Like Alana, I've been practicing intuitive eating for awhile now. I'm ecstatic to be starting the fourth year of my intuitive eating journey this month! The holidays/cold weather season has remained a challenge at times for me in terms of feeling a sense of eating balance. It's easy for most people to feel a sense of eating imbalance at this time, whether you practice intuitive eating or not. I agree with Alamako and Alana. Mindfulness (staying present and aware) to your eating and self-care/nurturing are key. The fact that you took the time to recognize your challenges on this group shows that you're already doing both! This week, I'm blogging " intuitive eating style " for the State of North Carolina's Eat Smart, Move More, " Maintain, Don't Gain Holiday Challenge! " I wrote a post that highlights my learning based on a eating experience at a office function that I had similar to yours! In the post, " Plan for Eating Pressures During the Holidays, " I offer some tips and ideas: http://bit.ly/hqSEpo Another article that you may find interesting is one that I wrote on the " cold weather munchies " : http://bit.ly/c1THBM This time of year is an excellent opportunity to see how your body and eating style responds under more extreme circumstances and to figure out the best ways to care for yourself. I can say that by practicing intuitive eating, my ability to balance my eating and care for myself has improved each and every year! Happy Holidays to you! Latoya:) > > Hi everyone, > How do you handle the holiday's and all the eating/food? I am doing my best, but I feel like the " beckoning " foods are taking over my intuitiveness. I had a work holiday buffet today and I over-did it. Not too too bad but i'm a lil uncomfortable. The thing is, I enjoyed all the foods! I wasn't eating for emotional eating reason but was eating b/c it was there and b/c i wasn't listening to my body..but was listening to ... my tastebuds?? Not sure that makes sense. > > Just curious how you all handle this. > > thanks! > Jen
