I don't know the biochemistry of that Dave, but fats-all fats-have 9

calories per gram. They have more potential energy per gram than do carbs,

but if the fats are not used as fats (like for making hormones, lubricating

joints, giving energy to the brain), then what is left will break down into

glucose.

has processed it. How can it yield more calories than carbohydrates or

Dave,

Calorie wise, 1 gram of either protein or carb equals 4 calories and 1 gram

of fat equals 9 calories.
