Guest guest
Dear, Dear Lynda: I am so sorry that you will lose your beautiful hair. Honey, it will grow back, and there are so many wigs on the market that are for cancer patients. My hairdresser works with women who have lost their hair from chemo. He also has cute little hats, and gives so much time to these special ladies. I, too, would be depressed if I were to lose my hair. We hope this round of chemo will kill all of the cancer. We hope that your oncologist will give you something that will make you feel well during your treatments. You should not have to suffer so much, and this makes me sad. I wish that we could be with you to help you to cope with the pain. There is a painkiller that the doctors gave me at the ER. It is called 'Fenitrol' or 'Phenetrol' or 'Fentanyl'...something like that. I cannot remember how to spell it properly, but I was told that it is usually used as an anesthetic. It killed the pain, and made me happy, even though I was in the worst pain that I have ever had. There has to be something that they can give you so that you can have a good night sleep without nightmares. Honey, we will be walking with you through this, and you will never be alone. Could your sister stay with you again, she has been such an Angel for you? Sending so much love and prayers to you...always.....Lea and ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`````` Further update on chemo I found out that this chemo will definitely take all my hair, probably in less than a month. So, I am looking for a wig that is very cool and not itchy. Most are itdhy. I will probably cut off half of my hair ASAP, and have it shaved off the minute it starts to come out. I am depressed with this as I worked very hard the last round to keep my hair, but I guess it will grow back when I am finished. The literature on abraxane says that you may generally feel unwell when doing this chemo. Hope that does not mean more unwell than the last 7 months. That would be difficult to deal with and still try to keep up with the house and other things. Too bad the other chemo quit working. And, I hope this is the last one I have to do to get the cancer out of my liver and lungs.I have back pain in the area where the cancer is in my spine. Not too severe, but it woke me up last night. I am hoping the chemo abates that pain, as that could be the worst part of having this cancer as it can affect the nerves in the spine. They cannot do much about it unless you are in the final stages of cancer. They can give you pain pills, but at night they give me nightmares if I sleep, and generally they keep me awake. They are ok in the daytime. It is the nighttime when the pain bothers me the most.Hopefully the blood counts will be ok on Wednesday so I can start this new round of chemo. I dread it but at the same time want to get going so I can just deal with the side effects and get on with getting it over with.Lynda
Guest guest
Dear Lea, We are hoping this chemo will kill the cancer in my lungs and liver and reverse some of the bone cancer. I ordered some cute turbans today. A Canadian woman is sending me a wig she never had to wear. I hope it looks good. I am going shopping tomorrow and look for one I really like. I am going to ask about the pain in my spine. I don't think my sister can come back for quite a while. She has a lot of obligations at home. She is president of the Kona Arts and she still has 3 parrots and a dog that have been farmed out to other people. She might come back when I am much, much worse later on. Hopefully that is years away. Love, Lynda At 12:55 PM 9/14/2008, you wrote: >Dear, Dear Lynda: > >I am so sorry that you will lose your beautiful hair.
