Banning trigger foods?

I read a lot of intuitive eating blogs and find them very helpful, but I notice

that some people have banned trigger foods, such as sugar or peanut butter. I

understand avoiding a food if you have an allergy or intolerance or if it just

makes you feel yucky, but is banning trigger foods a good idea, or would it just

perpetuate the diet mentality? I don't know.

I notice that when I eat sugar or cheesy stuff, I have a hard time stopping and

I usually feel really yucky. I've thought about avoiding them, but of course as

soon as something is " off limits " , it gets that much more appealing, and then I

go to a party or something and eat several servings of dessert and a piece of

cheese lasagna.

I also have ethical reasons for wanting to avoid dairy, but I worry that now may

not be the best time to cut it out because the diet brain might come back.

Thoughts, anyone? Has anyone had this problem?
