Guest guest
Dave, when I was taking humilog(manual, not the pen), I also used it days after, and it worked perfectly for me as well. sugar Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. ~Sugar Insulin expiration dates For whatever it's worth, here's something interesting that just happened to me. Better stated, something I experienced. I switched to Humalog pens quite a few years ago, yet at that time, still had my wife prepare one injection of Humalog from a vial once a day or so. Old habits and all that. But, probably a good 2 or more years ago, I switched entirely to Humalog pens and have been giving myself my Humalog 100% of the time. A half used vial of Humalog sat in the refrigerator all this time. This past Sunday, I realized I might not have enough pen Humalog to get me to Monday night (the first chance my wife would have to get to the pharmacy to get a new box of pens). My vial of Humalog in the refrigerator carried an expiration date of February, 2011. I was not overly concerned, since for a long time, I've felt expiration dates were much too conservative. Anyway, I used the vial insulin 2 times, for Sunday lunch, and for Sunday dinner. And I am pleased to report that it worked perfectly. I took the same amount I would have with a pen, having no idea if it would be as potent. I say this not to condone ignoring expiration dates, but to suggest to those who feel they must throw insulin in the trash the day after the expiration date has been reached, that they are probably throwing away perfectly good insulin. This was my experience, so take it for what it's worth. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Guest guest
I wonder if some of the drugs that are supposedly expired here in the U.S. are sent to third world countries that don't have as stringent requirements for that reason. Guest guest
my doctor, who is part of my diabetic action team, says that expiration dates on most medications can be lengthened to another 6 months past what is printed. Consult with your own doctors regarding this though. Insulin expiration dates > For whatever it's worth, here's something interesting that just happened > to me.
