Guest guest
Lynda ~ I am so happy to hear your oncologist is so compassionate. That is awesome ! It sounds like you have had some really good docs. I have had some good ones in the past myself. Just none this last 3 years. Not one ! My internal med doc I had in the 90's was the most thurough and compassionate person I have ever met. My neurologist was too. He was friends of Bernard Patton. Both are no longer in practice. The PS that did my last six chest surgeries no longer is doing surgery. So.......guess at one time I was spoiled. When I was seeing all of them it was at the beginning of the end of private insurance and the beginning of the HMO/PPO era....and the start of having different specialists to see for every symptom. I had a hyst in 95, and havent seen an ob/gyn since 99. I hope to find some good docs, just havent yet...... I kept trying a couple years ago, and it was so costly and I just kept running into docs that would tell me, you are such a complicated case.......then refer me to other specialists, and no one ever treated me.....it got very expensive and frustrating. With me having nodules in both lungs now, I need to find someone good. It has been 6 months since that CT so it is time to check them again....... I think I will see a different oncologist, this last one charged me $ 427.00 only to tell me to wait 6 months and then come back..... I think he spent an entire 3 minutes with me.....LOLOLOL....... Life is strange at times....... YOu are in my thoughts and prayers ~ Dede **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
I just talked today to a friend of mine who has had implants for a number of years. She had a tumor in her abdomen that was over 5 lbs that was discovered. It was benign, thankfully. She is still recovering from her recent surgery. She told me that the total cost of her surgery is going to be around $50,000!!!! Now tell me.....how can it cost a mere tenth of that to undergo a surgery with just as much risk, getting breast implants? Dare I suggest that with an elective surgery they keep their costs low enough to encourage as many takers as possible....and they STILL make tons of money? And yet with a surgery that is necessary for very life, they scalp us to death and justify every penny. How can it be? It's quite clear that they can do surgery for a fraction of the cost that they are charging. I realize that there is a difference between a clinical setting and a hospital...but still......this is just screwed up. We need reform in health care costs, badly! Guest guest
My oncologist is on top of how I feel about things. He has asked the social worker to call me a couple of times when I was really stressed and depressed. He really cares. He was sad to see me back in his office for treatment after 18 years. He is really a great guy. A cut above the average, by far. My OB/Gyn is the same. My GP now, there is another story. I can count on him to refill prescriptions, anyway. I need to get thyroid med refills and occasionally something else. He took a cancer off my face. He is ok, but not the best, by far. I tend to look for really good docs. I had a pediatrician who was the best, and, when I lived in Grand Junction, I had a great G.P. Had a great one in Boulder also but she transferred to Atlanta when her hubby got his PhD in Boulder and got a job in Atlanta. I miss her. Some docs are great. Some are sub-par. Guess that is true with the entire public also. So, guess we should not be surprised.
