Guest guest
Lynda, sorry things are going so badly for you, hope they get better soon. I know what you mean, even though my boss is great there are a couple of girls in the office who don't have a clue and couldn't care less what I am going through with Jodi. Guest guest
Thanks, Genny. Actually things are much improved, thanks to antidepressants! I am actually looking forward to the move at work, as what I'm doing now is a little to tedious for me at this point. They have also adjusted my hours so I don't have to be here until 10 am. I hope Jodi is feeling well today. Peace & love, Lynda AIH land Lynda, sorry things are going so badly for you, hope they get better soon. Guest guest
Welcome to our happy little group Lynda. I am sure besides learning so much valuable information, you will have a ball with this group. I had joined about 6 different groups when I first started, and this is the only one I have now. They are all very cooperative when someone needs some help, and we talk about everything under the sun. So welcome, and I am sure I will be talking with you Kathy Niagara Falls

Guest guest
Lol..... Everyone is going to think I volunteer at the hospital or something Pat! Lol Pat calls me Pink Lady because I use to, many many moons ago, have these geese that did not like a pants suit I use to have. I Always had to watch my back side every time I walked out the door wearing that pink out fit. I'm not saying it was bright pink but it was pretty pink, it must have been a pretty scary sight for those geese! Lol Well Pat you are going to have fill us in on your changed life. I know I feel fantabulous. It's all I can do sometimes when I see an obviously miserable obese person in public to run up to them, grab them by the hands and declare I have found the answer! I don't hide the fact I've had this surgery either. Someone asks me how I lost this much weight I tell them! If they don't approve, it's their problem to deal with. I did what I had to do for me. As I know each of you did as well. I was in Michigan a month ago bonding with my two year old grandson. I can proudly say I could keep up with him, no problem! The year before it was all I could do to chase that little heathen. Now I can give him a run for his money. Well ok, for his Tonka trucks... ) I do need to make myself exercise more than I do. I'm not good at it. Exercise should be declared an honorary four letter word. But I do it. Right now, I'm having to deal with health problems with my husband. Next month he must have surgery to open up a blocked carotid artery. Nothing unexpected, we know he has heart disease. Just having to deal with a 55 year old whose memory isn't very good do to that reduced blood flow, and dizziness for the same reason. He's bald so we can't even blame it on being blonde! I've had to deal with a case h.pylori. That Dr Rutledge graciously agreed to talk to me about. That is doing well now. I am having some reflux problems but I have a really bad hiatal hernia that probably should be fixed one day. Maybe at some point DrR can advise me on that as well. The last 15 pound loss has started really show up in wrinkly saggy skin. Trish told me it would happen, and it has finally hit. But it's sort of fun to gross out your adult child showing him the crepe-e look upper arms and thighs can get. Lol I haven't dared trying heels yet. If I ever will, I have no ligaments left in my ankles so am very hesitant to even try. But I have been able to wear any other shoes without problem. The one pair of sandals that I am wearing I had actually bought when my daughter got married. It was the dressiest pair of shoes I could find that fit my fat feet. But afterward I could not wear them. There is this cloth label sewn on rather than glued. When I wore them that label felt horrible and hurt my feet. This summer I am wearing them out! Lol They're a size to big anyway now.....I am eating my yogurt per DrR's suggestion to keep the h.pylori at bay. In short Life is Good. Guest guest
It's mainly a burning sensation, worse than regular heartburn. I seemed to have a belch, that came up from the deep. If I couldn't belch it would feel like a deep pressure in stomach. Until I could successfully belch. This belching was more than just swallowing air type of belch. Nothing helped the burning. Sometimes when I get that belching thing, I could actually throwup/spitup bile. Hugs, LyndaV Cushing Oklahoma USA p8nlady@... 9/5/2001 296/172 ...I am always happy to be a contact. Guest guest
Jen, I eat spinach, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, lettuce of all kinds, zuchinni, spaghetti squash, brussel sprouts, broccoli, jalapenos, eggplant, tomatoes, asparagus, frozen veggie mixes, raw carrots, cucumber. I do keep some raw baby carrots at work for when I get the munchies. I don't measure my portions of any of the above. I don't worry about the calories or the carb content of any of the above. I wish the archives of this group went way far back. After about 20 weeks doing just the palm/fist method, I wanted to do some calorie and ratio tracking to tighten things up. I was amazed at how many carbs a lot of these veggies contained. I asked if I should be concerned, and 's response was something along the lines of, " The nation's obesisty problem is NOT the result of eating too much bell pepper " . Veggies also contain a lot of fiber which fills you up and makes you healthy So my advice is that you can't have too many veggies. It has worked for me. If you want to see my scary befores, go here http://lyndaesp.tripod.com/ there is a link on the bottom of the first page to my befores. Guest guest
Thanks!! Believe me, BFL changed my life and my wardrobe:) I started BFL in May 2002 and did it EXACTLY by the book for about 20 weeks. Palm/fist measurements, cardio and lifting by the book, took full free days. In my first 12 weeks I went from 129 lbs to 113lbs and went from a size 10 to size 3. You can see my 20 week pictures in the Group Album 6 in the photo section here. At about 20 weeks I stalled and did some calorie counting. I found that my calories were a little low and I actually began to lose again by eating a little more. In Jan 2002 I started using an online trainer, Likness (unfortunately, no longer doing business). I am still using his nutrition plan, which is based on the same concepts as BFL. I eat 6 times a day, I eat carbs and protein with each meal, I eat a TON of veggies. The big difference in his plan is that it includes a LOT of healthy fats. You would die if you could see my ratios!! Some days my fat is is 35%!! Don't be afraid of healthy fats!! Because of all the fats, the carb and protein portions are a bit smaller than BFL, but I'm never hungry and you would also die if you could see how many calories I eat. The plan also includes a zig zag which means on your lifting days you eat about 500 calories more than you eat on your cardio days. This helps keeps the body confused and in fat burning mode. Once again, these tweaks were not necessary until I had been doing straight BFL for 5 months. I do all sorts of workouts now. Every once in a while I go back to the BFL pyramid just for fun. I do think that every few months you need to totally shake up your workouts because your body is incredibly adaptable and you need to keep challenging it. Some concepts that have remained constant for me are: weight lifting 3 x a week, cardio for no more than 1/2 hour 3x a week and a full free day each week. I rarely ever cheat at all during the week. I don't need to, I'm eating close to 2,000 calories on my high days. My BF has hovered around 16% since last April. Sometimes a percentage higher, sometimes lower. I wear between a 3 and a 0. Keep in mind I am a shrimp with a verrrrrryyyyyy small frame. Unless you are a midget like me, don't shoot for those sizes- no stick bugs allowed here!! My advice to everyone starting is to do BFL EXACTLY BY THE BOOK. Keep doing it till your body stops responding. Once you have stalled (no progress for weeks, NOT no progress for days ), look for someone knowledgeable to help you shake things up. Check out the Poster Girls folders in the Photo section. My story is not at all unusual. You'll see all the recent poster girls and can ask them for their success stories!! Lynda (did I mention you should do BFL by the book? Secondly, I was wondering how tall you are, it's hard for me to tell by the pictures alone. I apologize if this is a repeat question, but I didn't check the board today and there are over 100 messages and there's no way i can get through them all.. you guys are on FIRE! Guest guest
Janine- No, not really. More of a retreat, with facials, waxing and makeup, manicures and pedicures, massage and reflexology, with a retail shop in front. We did go up to the Aesthetics and Spa conf in Vegas this past weekend, and it was HUGE. The trade show floor was so big that it took me 4 hours to see half the show, and that is just walking down the center of the aisle, looking at each side, and then diving in for a brochure if something caught my eye. I did see some neat things and get some great ideas for new products, but I also saw some things that astounded me. People making medical claims for their products. Boy, will the FDA love THAT!. People who have NO CLUE about Aromatherapy selling products with sensitizing, photosensitizing and otherwise dangerous EOs in them. People selling products as %100 natural, that have scents like Mango Peach. Some guy who tried to tell me that the reason they used FOs in their massage oils is because you can't get enough aroma from EOs at a safe dilution rate. I have to admit, it did do my evil heart good to tell him he was wrong. :-D It DID do my heart good, too, to see only one person at the Young Living booth, when you could hardly fight your way through the aisles. Also, something I learned well this weekend... If you do any kind of trade show, words to the wise... Set your booth up so that people can get into it, and are not blocked if you have more than one customer looking already. Put brochures where people can get to them on their own, instead of having to wait for you to finish a conversation with another client. Have LOTS of brochures. Make sure your brochures have information that is correct - that your contact info really DOES take people to your website, or a correct email. Have a danged PRICE LIST, for heaven's sake! Give detailed descriptions of your products. One brochure I picked up goes on and on about the concepts behind the company, and their philosophy. Lists the products by name only, no description, no price list. Their website is impossible to navigate, and their email for info@ doesn't work. I'm betting the aren't going to pick up a lot of new business. If you are going to sell 'herbal' or 'Aromatherapy' products, then for heaven's sake, study herbalism or Aromatherapy so that you can make a safe and effective product. Anyway, that is my take on the show. Way huge, poorly organized as far as getting in and out of the show itself, and next time I won't fall for the ten dollar lunch buffet of old roasted potatoes and raw chicken legs. But great for new ideas and new contacts. Lynda Janine Phariss wrote: >Hey Lynda, > >I hear you own a beauty shop? Guest guest
Hello Lynda, I had my myotomy in Oct. I had trouble swallowing on my third month for quite a while. I think it was easy rolling until then. I wonder that it could be because of healing a scar tissue. I let it upset me a lot as well which also would have had an impact in swallowing. I am now having less trouble and know more about what is hard to swallow and avoid those things. Stay relaxed, keep excperimenting. The surgery does not stop A, it is a degenerative disease, but it certainly relieves the problem a lot. I suppose it is the hardest thing accepting this. I am trying to put all this in perspective now too and finding what is normal to me. All the best > > Hi, > > I had surgery for achalasia in November. My motality measurment was > close to 0.
