Guest guest
Hi Ginger: I think being more conscious when you eat is a GREAT idea. Especially consider whether you are hungry when you choose to eat. If you start with hunger, you can notice how your stomach sensations go from hungry, to not hungry, to comfortably full, and to overly full, if you continue to eat. If you start eating when you are not hungry, you won't have a definite 'no longer hungry' cue to tell you that you are approaching full. Also focus on the tastes, textures and other qualities of the food you eat. Really savor every bite to get the most enjoyment possible from eating that food. When you stop eating, consider how your stomach feels. Then check in with your stomach 30 minutes, an hour, 2 hours, 3 hours later and consider how you feel physically. Many IE newbees get carried away with legalizing food, because that's one of the early chapters in the IE book. Rather than considering how their stomachs feel after they eat, they only consider how foods taste or which foods they missed during diets. Intuitive eating involves listening to your body sensations (besides taste) as well as using your mind and memories of deprivation to influence your food choices. SUE > > So I got the book " Intuitive Eating " today-I've already started reading it & I'm very excited to start the process. I'm thinking that I should just start with trying to be more conscious when I eat. Any better ideas? Ginger >
