Hello ,

I got mine through Group Health but you can also get it from Speak to me. Just

make sure that your insurance company will cover the cost of the strips because

you only get ten when you buy the Prodigy Voice from Speak to me. If you have

any other questions, you can email me privately or call me if you like.

Hello All

My husband is still in the throws of getting his glucose monitoring meter, he

is going for the protegy voice. I am wondering what price range those of you who

use this meter were able to purchase yours at, and where they were purchased

, I bought my Prodigy Voice - Blood Glucose Monitoring System from

American Diabetes Wholesale for $39.99 which I paid out-of-pocket without

any insurance reimbursement. This was the lowest price I was able to find

for this product after searching on the internet. Their prices for the test

strips for this unit are also pretty reasonable at $14.99 for a box of 50.

Hi

I believe you can get the meter you are talking about from Independent

Living Aids and Speak to Me as well as some other companies that sell

talking products for the blind. However, it's not the cost of the meter

itself that is the problem. It's the test strips that will really hurt your

pocketbook since you have to test several times a day. I would suggest

using a company that deals with insurance so you can get not only the cost

of the meter covered but the cost of other supplies as well. The companies

I mentioned above that sell these and other products for the blind are just

retailers and do not deal with insurance.

I'll reinforce that the most important thing is to insure the supplier you

select works with insurance. If the person who originally posted this question

is not in the US, then all this talk about insurance may be moot. I happen to be

using Advanced Diabetic Solutions. More and more such suppliers seem to be

coming on the scene, but as long as they cover the cost of the strips, and that

should be 100%, it shouldn't matter which one you select. It might be necessary

to educate your insurance company about the existence of the Prodigy Voice

meter/strips. They'll have all the well known manufacturers in their list, but

Prodigy is not usually one they know about. They should approve it with no

trouble.

Are you talking about the Voicemate? If so, they are supposed to discontinue the

production of the Comfort Curve strips. And the meter itself is no longer

manufactured.

I think that is the one as it sounds familiar. It has worked okay but have

had it for almost 4 years. A while back when i brought in to the DR's office

she told me that it was an old meter.
