, what state are you in? It is hard to find a good doc that understands biomedical treatment AND takes insurance, let alone medicare. Let us know your state and we can give you some options. One of the moms here uses Dr. Woeller. You can subscribe to his site for $40.00/month and that will give you e-mail access to him and telephone consultations. You son's self-limited diet is the single biggest struggle for almost everyone when we first start this journey. Adding zinc (starting low and slow) to his drinks may turn him on to trying new foods. Also, try getting a multi-vitamin into him while you work on the diet. (generationrescue.com is a good place to start to get diet tips). A semi-decent vitamin to start with for now is

Gummy-Vites. You can get them right at wal-mart for 5 or 6 dollars. They contain no gluten, casein, soy, and no artificial colors or flavors. They're very similar to gummy bears, so you may have half a shot at getting him to actually take them. You will probably find as you go along that he requires more than these vitamin can provide, but if all he's eating is chicken, sun chips and goldfish, he is not getting nearly the nutrients he needs (Do not beat yourself up over this. Like I said, this is very typical for ASD kids)

and it's a good, easy place to start. (atleast for us it was).

Also, if he's a juice drinker, we've got a mom here on this board who is a juicing guru and if you go through the archives, you can find all sorts of great recipes drenched in nutrients. A juicer is well worth the investment.

Here's a tip: Next time he runs out of either his sun chips or goldfish, don't buy more. Tell him the store "ran out" and you will see if they have more next time you go shopping. Replace it with TWO healthier options. See if you can get him to choose atleast one. When he runs out of the next, do the same. hth until you can find a doctor. Good luck!

Hi ,If you have some money issues, like many others here is a website you can apply for grant. They accept it 4 times a year for all kinds of autism related issues. Please read the instructions well in order to comply with all their requirement so you can get the grant. They even cover DAN cost you just ave to get a paper from the doctor stating it is needed and how much it might be. The first round  you have to send in your application by January 30the no later otherwise it will be rejected.

our DAN will take people with low income and help them out. his name is Baptist, call and ask about the finding a cure grant help. he is in Kansas City. it sounds like he has a gluten intollerence and opiate and it will have to come out before he will take OTHER foods. my son was more limited then that. we had to go cold turkey, and THEN our son took the right foods,
