Guest guest
My mom is more like Katrina's - she loves her Yorkshire Terriers (she's had a series of them), treats them like her babies, buys them lots of toys and treats, and gives them excellent medical care, even to the point where it's ridiculous for a woman on a very small income to pay huge vet bills when her own needs are going unmet (I mean, I love my dogs, but I wouldn't pay for diabetes drugs for a dog for YEARS if I was having problems paying for my own medical care). However, she has never, not once, trained any of her Yorkies to go outside to potty. She says that training them to go on " pee pads " is sufficient. Well, the result is that they usually go on the pads, but not always, and they poop anywhere they like, so her apartment is a minefield of dried dog crap and sticky dried urine puddles. I mean, NASTY. And she will never admit that it's a problem, or agree to change her training technique. Therefore, not only is her home a foul, smelly place, but if she's hospitalized or dies, her adult dogs are not adoptable without extensive retraining. Back when I allowed her to visit our home, I insisted that she not bring the dog with her (she did anyway) - because if her dog pees in my house, my two dogs would be forced (by Doggy Logic) to cover it up - and my dogs pee in much larger quantities than a Yorkie. She also feeds these tiny dogs human food, so there are little dishes of dried or rotting leftovers on the floor in her kitchen. She either forgets or just doesn't bother to pick the dishes up and dispose of the food. Every time I have to go into her apartment (when she is hospitalized), I wind up having to mop and disinfect for an hour or two. It's not fair to the dogs, and it's not fair to me or anyone else (the home health aides) who go in to help Nada. As always, Nada does exactly what she wants to do, and the hell with everybody else. > >I now have nada's kitties that I rescues from her creepy > >friends and the younger one is doing pretty good and even the > >older one is doing pretty well, it's pretty obvious they ahve > >dealt with some neglect and I'm wondering if you guys had nadas > >that weren't good with the pets. Guest guest
You know, it wouldn't take much for you or your cousin to drop a dime to the animal control department (or the equivalent) in Nada's home town. Animal neglect/abuse can take many forms. Your call will be anonymous. An officer from that department will show up and ask a few questions about the dog and its habitat. The officer may or may not take any action, but he/she can make it clear that Nada and Dad aren't doing the dog any favors. > > > > I now have nada's kitties that I rescues from her creepy friends and the younger one is doing pretty good and even the older one is doing pretty well, it's pretty obvious they ahve dealt with some neglect and I'm wondering if you guys had nadas that weren't good with the pets. Sounds like their caregivers weren't too sure what to think, the gentleman that took care of them but didn't know what to do about it. Cuddles sounds like hadn't been groomed in awhile (poodle that someone else took), and tabby was getting skinny (one o fmy kitty rescues). I know my dog never took a liking to her at all and I never left my animnals with her unless I was forced too. Tabby was stuck there because nada woudln't let me take her with me when I left. Poor kitties, anyone else see thier nadas neglect animals so poorly? > > proflaf > > > > > > > > > > > >
