The high protein can be related to ammonia. Here, if my daughter is

hyperventilating, I can count on ammonia. I don't notice the smell as some folks

do. We use Yucca when this occurs and also w higher protein meals. This Yasko

My son makes ammonia everyday and it causes stims. I use 2 yucca pills, you can put them on protein or just seperate them out over the day. You can also do a charcoal flush. You do give 2 activated charcoal tablets with magnesium seperate from all other supplements. This gets rid of anything in the system, which is why you want to seperate it out from his other supplements. I do charcoal every other day but most people do it 1 to 2 times a week. Also when yeast goes up so does ammonia, but ammonia rises for other reasons, such as sulfur based methylation and protein.

When my dd had high levels of ammonia, her DAN suggested to use Ketoglutaric acid from Kirkman's .I think it was 2 cap. a day for a month.

It worked really well for her.

Hi. Thanks for all your great suggestions. As far as the activated

charcoal goes, 2 capsules once a day, correct? I should add magnesium to

it? Also, I never really knew how often was ok to give it. Also,

sometimes I do not see the black from the charcoal in her stools until

24-48 hours later. I wasn't sure if this was an indication of anything

or not. I was kind of thinking if it is taking that long to get through

her intestinal tract, maybe this is not such a good thing. She moves her

bowels daily, always has. Constipation has never been an issue.

While we are on the subject, how much weight do you put on the Doctors

Data urine test for yeast?? Is the arabinose level the best indicator as

to how much yeast we are dealing with?? Any thoughts would be

appreciated.

In my house, when it's really bad, ammonia/chemically smelling breath on top of the not so bad symptoms: aggression, temper tantrums and anger/self-regulating issues and overall fog. It can also look like yeast in my house but the way I can differentiate is sleep and mouthing. His sleep isn't usually disrupted whereas with yeast, he'll start waking up at 3am and he'll always have his fingers or toes in his mouth. This is why I always like to remind people to take notes during die off so you can see what the specific symptoms increased/what symptoms disappeared (both will tell you the symptoms of whatever it is you are treating) during that time. Once you have the notes, you can compare them all and see what's different so you know how to identify which is which.He also has the ammonia gene (per Yasko results) so I just keep him on Yucca.

Added tidbit: Yucca is also an anti-inflammatory. Gotta love those double whammies!
