,

You'll be pleased to know that wherever this information came from, it is

incorrect. The Prodigy Voice is alive and well and DDI has no intentions

of discontinuing the Prodigy Voice or it's strips, so do not worry.

Sometimes names or features change but the meter is definitely NOT

discontinued.

Subject: Prodigy question

So, they are discontinuing the Voice, and I suppose they are no longer going

to make the strips either?

that the lifespan for a talking glucometer in the states is about 5 years.

Any chance of getting refund on the meter my wife and I purchased?

Hi Dave,, and all,

I am working to get to the bottom of this. At present, Jerry Munden, vice

president of sales at DDI says he has spoken to the VP at Liberty and

Liberty is supposed to do whatever it takes to cover Prodigy products.

Jerry asks those of you who use the Voice to come up with questions or

comments for Liberty and post them to this list by Monday if possible

please. He will then put them to Liberty. Thanks.

Pat,

I hate to label anyone or any company for one experience, but I must say,

for them to say what they said to me indeed puts them in the " snook "

category! <smile>

This isn't a question, but the thing that the representative said to me was

that, the Prodigy meter was no longer being manufactured. She even went so far

as to say they could probably look to see if they had any meters/strips still

available, but they would not be getting any more Prodigy supplies.

As well, their suggested replacement, the Embrace, by implication, was an equal

equivalent. I informed the person on the phone that the Voice was designed for

blind people and spoke all the functions, unlike the meter she was talking

about. Admittedly, I wasn't completely sure, but almost. I am right, that the

Embrace is not a fully audible meter, right?

Hi Dave,

I see some advertisements for other Diabetic supply providers and they also

have some idiot “talking” meter which speaks the results – once. Their big

deal is that you no longer have to prick your finger, just prick your arm?

I can’t remember much of anything but the past president of ACB was

developing a talking meter which also did not quite meet the criteria that

the Prodigy does.

Cy, The Anasazi

Seems to me that I posted a question concerning the Embrace and we

discovered that it does speak the sugar level – once. No history or much of

anything else.

Hi, Cy,

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we've talked about the Embrace meter, and how like a

number of meters with some audible feed-back, it is of little help to us.

Thanks.
