Guest guest
Jen, I'm behind on reading emails, I see no one has replied to this! I have had a similar experience. I am fortunate enough to have a friend who is also a nutritionist that counseled me through it. I have seen some results from adding quality oils to my diet, progesterone cream days 13-26, as well as vigorous self care during the last two weeks of my cycle. If you want more detail on this, I am happy to share what *I* do. That said, it is something you should pay attention to and explore on your own what works for your body. It is SO common to have some less than ideal hormonal balances the second half of your cycle affect you hugely. Anne I have started to notice something. The first 2 weeks of my monthly cycle I am in tune with my body and IE really seems to be going well for me...then somewhere between week 3 and 4 all hell breaks loose and I swear I cannot control the urge to eat. I feel like something has taken over my brain and body and it says "shove food in". Now i'm not binging but i'm overeating and snacking like crazy. It is definitely when i'm not hungry a lot of times too. So...does anybody else notice this type of pattern? And how on earth do we get past this???? If i continue with this I will never lose weight - There..I said it. My biggest fear I know it's not very IE'ish of me but I can't help it thanks, Jen

Guest guest
Thanks Anne I'm going to at least start journaling it so I have a good idea of the exact pattern. Guest guest
Your core temperature goes up after you ovulate, which correlates to the 2nd half of your cycle. I think that might be a factor. I've noticed for years that I eat a lot more and enjoy my food much more after ovulation. (I had infertility and became much more aware of my cycle at that time). I also lost my appetite big time around my period. Nothing tastes good, and I can't think of anything I want to eat. My weight fluctuates throughout my cycle as well, but not as much as I would think given the variation in my eating before and after ovulation. I think this is very normal. It makes sense, that your appetite would go up at a time when you have the potential to be in early pregnancy (after ovulation), and for your appetite to go down when your body realizes it's not pregnant (around the start of your period). I think it's easier to feel more " IE " before you ovulate, than it is after. Over time, the more you trust yourself and the more you trust that it's okay to be hungrier and to eat more at times, and to eat less at other times, then you'll relax and be more in touch. Give yourself permission to eat as much as you need to eat during your high hunger phase. Over time you'll realize that you're still eating " IE " , you just need to eat more at certain times in your cycle. Try not to focus too much on the weight loss. Trying to hurry that will slow you down in making peace with food. Try not to control the urge to eat, just be aware of it. Really enjoy each bite, if you're like me, food really tastes better at that time, I figure I might as well enjoy it to the fullest. If you're feeling deprived, you should always give yourself permission to eat. You might find that this urge was a real need of your body's. I believe our bodies just want more food at that time in our cycle, and we have to give our bodies what they want. Good luck, Sara > > > > > > I have started to notice something.
