Guest guest
speaks out on breast implants A monkey could see that silicone gel breast implants ARE the most defective medical device ever FDA approved because causation of silicone is linked to proteins/protein excesses when entangled with the genetics (the variants of genes- OF KEY GENES) of any breast implant patient. Proteins accumulate on the surface of silicone, silicone breast implants and other silicone implants AFTER they are in the human body...and SCIENTIFIC TRUTH is protein excesses are common in many diseases, (lupus, MS, RA, sarcoidosis, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, other diseases of autoimmunity as well as with a variety of cancers-myeloma, lung, brain...and so forth...diseases, primarily those that stimulate/exert/ "turn on " the human immune response, via the placental barrier through fetal cells. Breast feeding was/is and will continue to be just extra "hits". Genetics is the foundation, but clearly NOT the cause..the human body will speak volumes. I know because I see what happened in my little family and in many others from the offending trigger of silicone gel breast implants. Stop the medical hype, it is long overdue to HLA-type...causatio n of silicone is linked to proteins/protein excesses when THIS chemical adjuvancy of silicone breast implants is entangled with the genetics of any patient...A monkey could have figured all of this out because the monkey (ME) really, really wanted to uphold medicine, science and research to that highest of high standard of First, do NO harm with silicone gel breast implants. I am still saying the same things I said and wrote about since the very early 1990's. Silicone IS silicone = cohesive gel breast implants that are being implanted to date, which are NOT wonderful either. Buyer beware, but nowdays you all know what you are getting yourself into...and the sad thing still holds true, that the offspring (those really innocent ones) still have NO VOICE in the choice mom makes when she makes the "choice" to opt for breast implants. The approval makes a mockery of the legal standard that requires “reasonable assurance of safety.”It is a terrible reminder of the double standard for women versus men that the FDA has not approved silicone gel testicular implants because of the inadequacy of clinical trials on these devices. (Saline breast implants and testicular implants have been approved by the FDA.)This approval of such a defective medical device raises again the larger issue of the poor leadership and dangerously poor performance of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). Recent examples of this include the large number of defibrillator and pacemaker recalls, primarily the fault of manufacturers such as Guidant but abetted by the lack of FDA promptness, and the approval of the vagus nerve stimulator for depression despite the opposition of dozens of FDA staffers because it lacked evidence of effectiveness. We will certainly be urging thorough congressional investigations and hearings on this lack of assertion of regulatory authority by the FDA’s CDRH.Provided by Public Citizen on 11/17/2006
