Can diabetics donate organs?

Hello,

My wife was watching Desperate Housewives and a character on it needed a

kidney. My wife has diabetes, and said, even if she were not diabetic, she

didn't know if she would donate a kidney to a stranger. Now, She has type 2

diabetes. Can she donate a kidney if she chose to?

I know diabetics can donate blood, but I have never heard an answer on organ

donation. My cornias are still goood, so My docs say I can donate those, but

I'm not sure about other organs.

Any thoughts?
