Guest guest
I'm reading a book called " Alternatives to Antibiotics " . It is a basic, elementary book, but it does have some very good info in it. In the last chapter, he talks about stress and the immune system. Bingo. This is validation to our experiences with breast implants. Implants, of course, are stress to a healthy body, which fights them 24/7, 365 days a year. The pioneering work of Dr. Hans Seyle in the 1920's is a key to the answers we need for breast implant illness. In his work, he proposed that stress can cause imbalances within the endocrine system of the body. This includes the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, thymus, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries and testes--which IN TURN, can suppress the immune system. How does stress affect the immune system? Stress increases output from the adrenal glands, causing a rise in the levels of the hormones adrenaline and cortisone in the body. These hormones can suppress white blood cells. Since one of the most important functions of white blood cells is the destruction of invading viruses, bacteria and fungi, it is easy to see how stress can lead to impaired immune function. In addition, prolonged elevation of cortisone has been specifically linked to the destruction of T-lymphocytes, the so called " killer cells " that appear to play a major role in helping the body fight cancer. The level of immune suppression is proportional to both the duration of the stress and the level of the stress. When you have breast implants, you have long exposure, and since each person is biologically unique, the level of stress that implants represent in each woman is varied, which explains why some women get sick and some do not. http://www.hope.edu/academic/psychology/335/webrep2/stress2.html A positive outlook is soooo important! While breast implants may have been the instigator of our failed healthy, and healing through detoxing is vital, we must never overlook the very important role our emotional health plays in our healing. Anger has to go. Toxic relationships have to go. Positive people, happy friendships, cheerful acquaintences and optimism are going to be your best allies! Faith in the One who has given you life is healing. http://www.20minutestolessstress.com/mind_body.html Make 2009 your best year yet! God loves you...
