Guest guest
Where are you from ? Sorry, I can't remember where everyone lives. Don't think just one type of Dr. is going to be the right one. I've seen, 3 Internists, 3 Rheumatologists, 3 Infectious Disease Drs, 3 Alternative Drs.,2 Primary Care, even 3 Eye Drs......and the best for me was one of the Rheumatologists, and all of the Alternative Drs. have helped me improve......I don't think this helps too much....certainly ask around for someone who is Lyme Literate. Guest guest
Kim, have you tried Children's Hosp of Phila? Mark was seen in immuno there when he was a baby. They are in the top 10 hospitals in the nation. Hershey Medical Center also has an excellent reputation for their immunology clinic. Best wishes, mom to Mark 7 CVID > > Can anyone recommend an infectious Disease doctor? Preferrably on the east coast. We are > from Pennsylvania (one hour north of Phila). Guest guest
,It all depends on the astuteness of the Infectious Disease doctor. He will have to act like a sleuth to figure out if there are any organisms in your body that could be causing you to have symptoms, so he will have to be patient and thorough. Are you still suffering from the effects of the flu shot? Some doctors have suspected that we are struggling with a form of bacteria called mycoplasma which is a very small bacteria that lacks cell walls. For this reason, they are not eradicated with common antibiotics, but rather long term antibiotic therapy using low dose antibiotics in the class of tetracyclines (minocycline, doxycycline). These are broad term antibiotics that have certain side effects, (such as discoloration of the teeth) but some people suffering from illness have seen improvement on them. The dose is so low the drug does not act to kill bacteria, but rather to change the way the body responds to infection. However, since their main action involves suppression of the enzymes involved in the inflammatory process, not killing of the bacteria, the approach brings relief, not cure. One of our members, Kathy, was on low dose antibiotic therapy, and she felt better while on them, but when she went off, her symptoms returned. I'll see if she can come back to the group and discuss it with us.I hope this doesn't become another goose chase for you ! Keep taking good care of yourself. What have you been doing for yourself since you got the flu shot? Are you working?Patty>> My GP wants me to go see a Infectious Disease Doctor, after I explained all my symptoms, yet another doctor...wil I get anyway with this doctor ? What all can he do ?>

Guest guest
Hi , I'm really glad to hear that your flu symptoms went away quickly! And a relief that your blood work came back fine. Sounds like things are back to normal for you. I talked to Kathy on the phone the other day, and hopefully she will be able to join us...she's working too. Take care and stay healthy!
