Is this a borderline trait/joke/attention getter?

I was thinking both my bpd ex, and my bpd mother did this. They'd knock on a

wall pretending there was someone at the door. Especially, if I had just gotten

on the phone, or had something I was nervously trying to get done, or was just

asleep. Of course, no one would be at the door. This would happen over and

over until eventually I figured out the trick. It was/is extremely annoying. I

wondered why both borderlines did this, and if this is a common ha ha with

them.

Or, merely shows the neuro-developmental age of their brains that they'd enjoy

this prank over and over...not caring how nervous or upset they made you as long

as they got the attention.

Wow! Interesting. Must be a borderline thing. I can see if it was a joke once

or twice with a kid or something. But, a parent or husband, and over and over

again. Ya...weird!

Toddlers do that kind of thing. It was the " I was getting something done or on

the phone or trying to fall asleep " that did it.

The good old: " OH NO I'M NOT THE CENTER OF HER ATTENTION RIGHT NOW!! I'D BETTER

MISBEHAVE SO GROWNUPS WILL SEE ME! "

Sheesh. It's a wonder you didn't come crashing through the door swinging--how

annoying is that?
