Guest guest
Yes, I think I'd pass too. You're best bet would be Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, with your situation. You want to be careful with those implants, as old as they are, and definitely have the en bloc. Keep looking! Patty > > Well I went to see Dr Nezami in ville, Fl. Guest guest
~ Sweetheart, I wouldnt use a doctor that put me off a couple months.....until it was conveinent for him. Guest guest
I am glad you nixed useing this doctor......... you definately need the EnBloc proceedure to remove your implants, because I am sure the outter shell is disinigrated and the only thing holding on to the silicone and the rotten foam that covered the meme's that is full of tolulene and is highly toxic, is the scar cap that grew around the implant, so to keep you safe you really need to have a proper explant and use of drain tubes to drain off the fluids that will collect from the surgery. You will heal much better, and if there is any toxic leakage from the surgery, it will drain a good bit of that off too.... Your safety is first.....and definately needs to be done in a hospital setting where there is emergency equipment easily available in case there are any problems.... Please feel free to ask any questions you have. Hugs N Prayers ~ Dede**************Great Deals on Dell Laptops. Starting at $499. Guest guest
Hi , First I would like to say welcome to our group, and I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling with these issues while your husband is in Iraq. I have a loved one in Iraq as well, so I know how difficult it can be, especially when you have a little one at home too, that needs you. As for the explant, that is coming up very soon...and I also believe that things happen for a reason! I wanted to ask you, why are you convinced that the plastic surgeon is not what you need? I would probably agree with you, but I just wondered what you had determined was the reason. Is this surgeon provided by the military? Do you have any signs of illness? My opinion is that all implants should be removed properly, which means that the scar tissue comes out when the implants do. I would suggest that before you go through with this surgery, you have a long conversation with the surgeon and discuss the particulars of your explant surgery. Of course, the surgeon may be threatened by questions and not offer the time, but he should answer all your questions before you go under the knife. You want to be at peace with this surgery and its outcome. I would discuss capsule removal with him, and explain that you don't just want the implants removed, but you want all of the " stuff " that goes with the implant out as well. This means a total capsulectomy. It makes the surgery a little longer and more complicated, and that is why doctors don't like doing it. If they can get by with just yanking out the implants, that is what they will do. So, the next question is, what if he will not agree to do what you ask? Then you have to continue your search for the right surgeon, unless you are desperate enough to just get these things out that you want to just have the surgery on Thursday for the sake of relief, but realizing that you may have additional concerns down the road with those retained capsules. Probably the reason that your doctor wanted to put off the explant surgery until the 5th was so that you would have time to think about your decision to remove completely and perhaps go ahead and decide to have the replacements anyway. He may yet try to talk you into that. Of course, I am only saying this based on what I've heard many doctors doing in the past, and he may or may not be different. I am hoping that he will do what you ask, to make you happy and healthy. I understand your concerns and the pressure you are under...it's not a good place to be, but with the help of your parents and your in-laws, you should be able to work this out to your satisfaction. Don't rush into the surgery if you have unanswered concerns, and don't put off looking for a better surgeon if you have doubts about the care of the one you have scheduled now. We'll be here if you need help. Let us know what happens. Take care, Patty --- In , " emily.linzy " <emily.linzy@...> wrote: Oh my goodness...Sometimes I believe that things > happen for a reason in this world, and I just stumbled on this group. Guest guest
Hi Lea, I've written her....hopefully she will have a proper explant. I am so happy she found us before her surgery. How are you doing, Lea? I hope you are staying warm! I wish there were some easier answers for your scar tissue, and that the doctors would take care of you and just get it out. So frustrating. I am doing much better, and we think that we both had food poisoning at the lunch. was very sick to his stomach too. Guest guest
Oh, Patty, thank you. Where is the lady who had the Meme, because I am sure that I wrote to her? She had these implants for 25 years, and that is a worry. So sorry that I got these two precious women mixed up. We all pray that will get the care that she needs. She sounds just like us with many of her symptoms. My left leg was numb for over a year before my implants were removed, but it got better after explant. Guest guest
, It's normal to seek the help of your original implanting surgeon....most women will make an appointment with them when they are having problems, and I did too. Of course, the problem with that is that they don't take you too seriously about the illness. Mine sure didn't. He kept telling me how safe the implants were. But for me, they weren't safe! And he offered to take my implants out for free....but I refused to bite on that one! That would have been a huge mistake. I chose to travel and see a plastic surgeon in a bigger city 2 hours away and have them removed properly, even though it cost me more money. It was the best decision I made. , your symptoms sound exactly what we've all experienced as well. We may not all have the exact same symptoms, but we have constellations of symptoms that are tell-tale when the implants are involved...things like the numbness and tingling, the brain fog, the fatigue, the inability to concentrate. These are all signs that something is getting very whacked out in your immune system and it is vital that the implants be removed correctly. If you remember from my previous post, that means the scar capsule is removed when the implants are removed. When you are ill, that is so important because your immune system has a memory of what it is reacting to. If any of those things remain in your body, your immune system will continue to react...which means that if that scar tissue stays in your body with silicone degradation products, oils, bacteria, or whatever from the implants, you remain ill. Most doctors poo-poo the idea that implants make women ill to begin with, so they don't take the issue of removing the scar capsule seriously enough. But it is YOUR body, YOUR health, YOUR future at stake. You want someone who understands that. So, that is why we have a list of recommended surgeons, if you want to cut to the chase and just go with a doctor who will do what needs to be done. We have no financial incentive to give out these names. We just know that these doctors understand that we are ill and will take care of us properly. Otherwise, you have to sort through the names of doctors in your area, and talk with each one to find one that understands, and agrees to, the importance of having a total capsulectomy and drains with your explant. The doctors we trust are: Dr. Lu Feng in Cleveland, OH Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, GA Dr. Huang in Denver, CO Dr. Ed Melmed in Dallas TX (But we always urge you to insist upon capsule removal with saline implants with him. He will do it if you have silicone gel, but you must request it for saline.) I don't know where you are, but we have additional doctors in our list in our files section. IT's just that we can't always trust these other doctors 100% like we can those listed above. But it's a good start if you can't get to one of the 4 listed above. I hope that helps you in your search. If you've already called your surgeon that was supposed to explant you on the 5th, please share how that went. We want you to have the best chance of getting better, especially since you have a little one to take care of. Who helps you now? Are you working or a stay at home mom? Guest guest
We have one doctor listed for Virginia, but I will give it with a caveat....it was reported by someone who went to him that he claimed he would remove the scar capsule, but when she got her operative report, she found out that some of the capsule remained. She has written on this group....you may want to research this first, but if you do go to him, KNOW that you MUST insist on proper capsule removal and let him know that you will be asking for an operative report for details on the operation.Just be careful. Guest guest
> I don't know i my implants are meme, I am quessing because I have no op-reports or hospital reports. Tried in vain to obtain. Dr. retired and hospital no longer has records. I have read that meme's were popular in 1983 because the doctors were getting pd special by the manfacture and they were softer to the feel. I have read some bad stuff about Dr. Kolb in Georgia on the breast support infor.org site. I am in Destin, Fl. until May 08. I drove almost 700 miles round trip to see Nezmemi in ville. I don't know if I am up to another long drive right now. I might wait until we are ready to go home, make an appt. with Kolb and stop on the way. I am also planning on seeing Dowden in Lexington, Ky. I will probably also see Feng in Cleveland. I have read good and bad about Feng, mostly that she is very expensive. I don't have a lot of money. I have Medicare Complete insurance, an HMO. I am looking into changing insurance, but can't until Nov. of next year. I agree, I probably have silent ruptures in both breast. So, my concern is how long can I really wait? Thanks, ladies for all you help. > Yes, I think I'd pass too. You're best bet would be Dr. Kolb in > Atlanta, with your situation. Guest guest
I do care and if you do have those meme, you are going to need the care of a good surgeon. In my opinion, tops in the country is Dr. Lu Feng in Ohio, and she is expensive, but worth every penny. Dr. Kolb is also one of the very best, and if she is closer, I would not hesitate to contact her. She is very good about working with you on health insurance or whatever else is needed to make sure you can get that necessary explant. It's time those babies came out of your body! Dr. Kolb will be able to do it correctly and with expertise. Oh, I wish you weren't in this situation...but the good thing is that you've got options! This will all be over at some point in time, and you will be free of those implants and can move on toward a better future. Keep us posted? Guest guest
Honey, please try not to get to stressed out. We have around three thousand women in Canada who have the Meme. One lady had them removed, and then she has saline implants implanted. This is not a good idea. It is important that you have a good surgeon, because they should be removed soon. The foam is probably dissipated by now; however, they are still silicone. I had a the Polyurethane, and they were not removed correctly, and that is why I continue to be sick. Patty, is correct in that you must go to someone like Dr. Feng, because she has removed so many breast implants. What are your symptoms? Could you please give us a list of your symptoms. Stay close, love always...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``` consults> > > > > > > > > Well I went to see Dr Nezami in ville, Fl. Guest guest
Dr. Dowden...his name seems to sound familiar, and my memory is not that great, but his name makes me uncomfortable. I think that my husband wrote about him years ago....Poor Dr. Dowden?? Love always...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`` Re: consults > >> > Well I went to see Dr Nezami in ville, Fl. Guest guest
MarkEntime ~ When I had my silicone rupture back in the early 90's You could not tell it was ruptured by looking at it, or even feeling it....because of the fluid/swelling that collected inside of there to protect me from the toxic silicone gel. It was when the silicone entered my lymph nodes and they got so big and scarred and sore that I went to the doc to check that out and found out that I had a massive rupture then the mammogram blew out the top of the scar tissue and all the contents went on a trip around my organs and body.... So.........the deception goes on............. It is our " human right " to know the truth ! Now that you know what is going on, you can take all the right steps to get cleaned out and well again. My father is 81 and he doesnt have trouble remembering things......so.........I bet your memory problems have to do with your toxic overload............not your age......
