Thank you so much for posting this link. I had not read it before and it so

resonated with me.

I'm going to use this as an introduction to the group. I joined a few weeks ago

and have been lurking to get a feel for the group. I am honored to be among

such a warm, sharing, caring and welcoming group of people. I am 54 (will be 55

tomorrow, so I'm hanging on to 54 for as long as I can) and live in NJ with a

wonderful husband, a Shih Tzu and 2 parrots. I've been dieting most of my life

(first official diet was Weight Watchers when I was 14) but I've always had a

weight problem. I spent most of my life on and off diets until 2 years ago when

I decided (or I should say realized) that diets don't work for me. I buried all

of my Weight Watchers stuff and decided to learn how to eat intuitively. I've

gained quite a bit of weight since then but I've realized that I still have not

totally given up the diet mentality. I am sure, and know within my soul, that

eventually I will learn to live with myself eating intuitively, and if the

pounds are meant to come off, they will.

I'm working on that. I've read Geneen Roth's books, listened to Marc 's

programs, read May's and Bacon's books. I look forward to

getting to know all of you and sharing our struggles and successes together.

remembered it and went back to read it, and it really fired me up! " I never deny

myself a f***ing thing because I have denied myself enough for 1000 lifetimes "

<--- YES!!! THIS!!!

or at least haven't read it for a while :)

Thanks . I think I'm at the end of gaining weight and starting to work my way in the other direction. I have also decided that I'm not going to get on the scale, but go by the way I feel and the way my clothes feel. It's been a tough 2 years since I decided to stop dieting, but I am learning to love myself and my body, regardless of how it looks. I'm learning to understand that most people do not like me or not like me because of the way I look. They like me for who I am. I have to do the same for myself.Good luck in your journey. >> Haappy Birthday I am a recent new member of this group and also a WW veteran who is trying to get a grasp of this IE way of eating, still gaining weight. >
